Agreed, but momma and daddy didn't have anything to do with letting me. I was 8 or 10 with my uncle who was 15 or so and his friend and we snuck out of one of the Disney movies with Jan Michael Vincent (can't remember the name)thinking we were Big Boy enough to handle the Exorcist. WRONG!

The scene where the hourglass is timing Dorothy's demise freaked my little arse out. I was horrified when the cackling wicked witch replaced Auntie Em in the crystal ball. I still find it pretty disturbing.

My parents had a wooden sofa like this that was tall enough for my brother and I to crawl under. That's where I went when the monkeys started flying out of that tower. Every year I'd crawl under there and hold my hands over my ears so I couldn't hear the witch laughing and saying, "I'll get you my little pretty, and your dog!"

Jaws
quote:

I was about the same age... living in Florida. Hell, I was terrified to swim in our own pool in the back yard from thinking that Jaws was such a bad arse shark, he could bulldoze his way underground the few blocks from the ocean to our house and get me in the pool.

The imagination of a 6 year old can do serious damage to itself with just a little bit of encouragement.

perfectly stated. I hated going in our 15 foot above ground pool or even putting my face underwater because when I'd close my eyes I'd freak the hell out. I couldn't even look at a pick of a great white in a book for awhile without getting jumpy. Wasn't really until I was in my 20s and moved to Florida and started surfing and seeing sharks in the water with me that I truly got over my fear of sharks.

This!! I still can't watch that movie and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks it's super creepy. Hell if my future children want to watch ET they can gladly do so when I'm not at home .

Clown in Poltergeist

That clown did a number on me. I was probably 6 or 7 when I watched this at a friends house on cable. It so happened that I had a picture of a clown in my room. After watching that, that dang picture in my room tormented me for over a year. For some reason I never said anything to my mom, who would've taken the picture down I'm sure. But no matter where I was in my room, it always looked like that dang clown was watching me. I hate clowns to this day.
