I emphatically disagree. This is about as well as you can translate 4th Edition to an MMO without an astronomical budget. There is some subtlety to combat - at least the potential for it is there. What you describe as the current state of dungeon zerging could be fixed by rebalancing enemy encounters so that haphazard slashing is possible, but will probably be rewarded with death.
The movement/block mechanics are fine, but there needs to be more of a punishment for not reacting. Seems that the abundance of health potions becomes less of an issue once you get into the upper levels because they are so expensive. I think your criticisms should be directed at the current Beta state of the game rather than at the entire engine.
