The easiest thing to do with a tuner/programmer is increase the boost of your turbo or turbos. Increasing the boost of a forced induction engine can increase your efficiency and power.

By the way, a lot of guys are showing highway mileage being so high. In town you'll still get crappy mileage. But on the highway when you're in overdrive and you're at a steady low rpm, your turbos give your engine much more efficiency.

I would suggest a Banks tuner. My buddy has one on his old F350 with the old international diesel. It's putting down around 1200 foot pounds of torque.

Have an '07 1/2 duramax, one of the last 6.6 lbz's, and have efi live, egr blocker, straight pipe exhaust, pcv re-route. City is still upper teens, pulling boats mid teens, and hwy low 20's staying at 70.

I get 25 in my F250. Just had another fricked up motor though.

I don't think there are chips for VW stuff, and even if, you'd have to straight pipe it to see any gains

I would suggest a H&S tuner.

An easy canned tune will net you 120HP on a 6.7 Powerstroke. This is with no deletes and factory DPF, etc. Remove the filters and then the fun really begins.

H&S Performance

just go to Hypertech or Superchips websites and see what models of cars they have chips for. Some vehicles it improves performance and MPG differently...diesels see the most improvement.

My 08 z71 1500 gas burner has a superchip in it that I installed after putting larger mudgrips on (went from stock tires to 285s with a leveling kit). The bigger tires brought my hwy mileage down to 13-14 from 18-21. The programmer brought it back to the original mileage before the bigger tires so it was worth it.

Bone stock 2011 F250, 17-18 if under 75.
Quieter than a Lexus at highway speeds.

No way I'm putting a straight pipe on it.

Hypertech or Superchips

I know that you didn't make this claim but these are no longer the leaders in gas or diesel engines. H&S, SCT, and Diablo (I think) are the industry leaders. There are some others too but the ones that used to be top dog are no longer.

Not really...adding fuel is what increases boost...
Optimal boost cruising on interstate at 70 is no more than 6#

It's different on different trucks based on gearing, but you want that number as low as possible when cruising the highway...that and the lowest rpms and egt's

re: Diesel Engine MPG question... i know im going to catch hell for this
He is probably lying. My truck was getting 21 when I still had regular rims and tires. That was with an intake and close to straight pipe exhaust. I didn't chip it until after I lifted it. Now I get 14-15-16 on interstate but I get it whether I have a load or not. I am willing to bet he has more than a chip if he is getting mileage like that.

Big diesels on trucks leave a lot to be tinkered with. I would not mess with a VW's program. They engineer those things to much tighter tolerances. Plus they're already programmer for milage and not power like trucks are. You'll also get better than advertised. My wife has a tdi jetta and averages 39-40 mpg and her commute isnt really hwy miles.

If he has a 2500 diesel and is getting better gas mileage, maybe he's talking about his wifes car? My buddy put gasoline in my diesel and I got NO mileage!

Well, to think about it i did get better mileage. It was riding on a flatbed trailer to the dealer.
