LSU Baseball Stats and National Rankings (Through 5/5)

Another week, another weekend series in the SEC for LSU.

LSU basically won at life this weekend and I hope it is the start of something fantastic for the rest of the summer.

Jacoby Jones went from being overrated to a 1st Rd MLB stud again. Sure, he has areas to work on but guess what, he has so much upside, he will be worth the risk. (Proven by his two BOMBS this weekend. And Saturday's was the furtherest HR hit this season at the Box and it was into the wind.)

LSU has a 3.5 game lead with 6 to play making our magic number as 3. If we win 3 games, we lock up the SEC West. If Arkansas doesn't win out, that number can drop. But as of today, it is 3. Win 3 more SEC games and we lock up the West.

To win the overall SEC, we need Vandy (21-2) to catch the Flu cause they get Kentucky and Alabama. USC was suppose to win a game or two and they forgot to show up this weekend.

SEC West (RPI)

LSU - 19-5 (4)
Arkansas - 15-8 (39)

As legit as chocolate cake on the beach bro.

If he keeps down this path, he will end up winning National Freshmen of the Year, SEC POTY, SEC FPOTY, and any other award they hand out these days.

Let's just hope he keeps on bringin the wood

Chance, but there is a lot of competition there. Katz, Renfroe, Kemp and Yaz from Vandy.

Kemp and Yaz won't win it. Renfroe has the best chance with his overall power numbers

Yeah, neck and neck between Renfroe and Bregman. you have to think Renfroe is in the lead at this point given his power numbers and the potential presence of an MVP age bias. Bregman being on a better team is in his favor however.

True but Katz has better numbers than Renfroe.

Renfroe's award to lose IMO. Not because he deserves it the most, but because I know how the voters of these awards think.

I was just being curious so I picked the 1997 team(randomly) to test my thoughts.

This stats should SHOCK LSU fans and show us just how AMAZING our freshman really is.

Bregman 83 hits in 49 games = 1.7 Hits-per-Game
Larson 110 hits in 68 games = 1.6 Hits-per-Game
Furniss 98 hits in 70 games = 1.4 Hits-per-Game

Skip and Ben Mac already said he was the best Freshmen to ever play at LSU.

Other than RBIs, no he doesn't.

And as far as Bregman, they aren't going to give the player of the year award to a freshman. Even if he deserves it.

The best thing part is that they did it with better bats.
