I'm not dodging, and sorry about the conspiracy nut thing. Battling a broken tooth so that came out rougher than it had to.

There is no proof that Obama personally or even indirectly ordered the military off of the C-130 or refused a requests for jets to fly overhead. And it certainly isn't his place to offer up suggestions for how the military should do its job. I am sure that they are very good at offering up suggestions that they feel are viable to the President.

So are you in the camp that:

A) the President, without the suggestion from the military leaders in the room, should have started telling local air units to take off and maybe send in forces on the C-130?
Or
B) do you think the generals were screaming at him yelling "Our men are dying! We need you to authorize jets and the C-130!" but he refused?

You need to explain what a hellish response would be to the POTUS?

Please. Go ahead. I dare you.
Petreus could have walked up to a reporter and told him / her that he begged the President to authorize jets / reinforcements but Obama said no. The reaction from Veteran's groups and the public would have been enormous.

What does Petraeus have to do with it?

Wasn't he one of the guys involved at the time? If not, some other high ranking guy could have done the same.

Ah, sorry. I forgot it was September 11. Man, 8 months ago was a long time. Really, though, when you think about it, what difference does it make?

AT least they are covering it. Props to them. I hope enough gets out to where CNN and others HAVE to cover it.

You are 100% incorrect. A foreign embassy is under attack...the military is laying out options immediately for reprisals and/or to get the people out...LP (Leon Panetta) has already admitted he was on the phone in the situation room IN THE WH!!! LP is receiving info and plans are either being laid to act, not act, or other options, and if LP is receiving info re an ongoing attack of a US embassy, you can bet your arse BHO was either in the room with him, or receiving updates every 5 minutes.

Testimony has already been given that the embassy requested and WAS GRANTED by the Lybian govt to use its airspace...you think that happens at a low level tier of the State Dept or the DOD?? Hell f$%^## no!!!

He is the CIC, the military will jump in the Atlantic if ordered to do so. A President is given options, many options by top brass and he is making the call to use or go in a different direction.

quote:

B) do you think the generals were screaming at him yelling "Our men are dying! We need you to authorize jets and the C-130!" but he refused?
There would be no screaming at the CIC, generals lose jobs for it. But if BHO refused sound action that was laid out him, shame on him.

The following DID NOT happen: BHO did not receive any input for miliatry options and was begging for advice on how to act. That is a certainty.

I would lose my job if there was a life on the line.

Probably a pretty automatic request as they were considering options.

So why would Obama tell air units to stand down if he had permission to use the air space by the Lybian government? Do you think he might have been told by the military that it wouldn't be effective? If you were the Prez and they say that he could send in jets but they tell you that it would be a bad idea, how would you have answered?

Why would he be begging for advice as to how to act? The military had every authorization they asked for. It is their job to decide how to react and / or provide options.

because he already said AQ was decimated and on the run in speeches. He and his cohort of.clowns, VJ, hoped it would just go away if they pretended it wasnt real....hence why he then LIED about the video and floated that bull shite.

This is a huge assumption a lot of people on the right are hanging their hopes on. This assumption is insinuating that Admiral Pickering & Mullen would place their reputation just to get BO re-elected.
Even someone like Leon who was respected by both Republicans and Democrats in DC, surely couldn't have been OK with the president turning down help.

Of all the cabinet members that BO had, he was arguably the least (or one of the least) partisan members. The man received 100-0 confirmation vote.

Interesting. You know that for sure. Hopefully you are lined up to testify, to clear this matter up for Congress.

A brief explanation of what potentially could have been available.

Combatant Commander’s In-Extremis Force (CIF)

This was not the type of special operations force that was in Tripoli.

CIF in Croatia wasn't a realistic option. What type of force was available in Tripoli? I haven't heard much about them other than they trying catch a plane but didn't get the go ahead.
