When did I ever say they lost because of Shaq? I just noted that Hakeem > Shaq in that series. It was one of many position battles the Rockets won, hence the sweep.

which is obviously wrong when you know:

Shaq

28 PPG
.5945 FG% (44 FGM/74 FGA)
12.5 TRB/Game
6.25 Assists/Game
2.5 Blocks/Game
0.25 Steals/Game

Hakeem

32.75 PPG
.4827 FG% (56 FGM/116 FGA)
11.5 TRB/Game
5.5 Assists/Game
2 Blocks/Game
2 Steals/Game

How do those numbers support Shaq > Hakeem?

Nah, Hakeem was better until around 96ish, then Shaq took over. And even if he wasn't, to say "easily" discredits your argument. It was very close.

You're wrong. I'm just trying to figure out if you know you are wrong and are fricking around or are just dick riding The Dream. Also, you could be completely ignorant to the fact that you are wrong and truly believe you are right, in which case

more rebounds, more assists, more blocks, much better shooting percentage/efficiency

how would those numbers lead you to any other conclusion?

Shaq didn't take a shot outside of the paint, of course his FG% is higher. Hakeem had *gasp* a midrange game and used that to his advantage to pull Shaq away from the rim on jumpers.

You must also believe Kareem, Oscar and Lebron > MJ if you're this much of a stat guy, right?

2 points is 2 points no matter if you are dunking or taking it from 19 feet. Shaq shot 11% better than Hakeem did. The Rockets won that series because of what their supporting cast did, not what Hakeem did. They had stud 3 point shooters all around him. Shaq's supporting cast shat the bed.

Similar thing happened in last year's NBA Finals. LeBron played basically to his averages and Durant played better than his. Why did the Heat win? Supporting cast stepped up.

The objective is to be efficient. If you are efficient you score more times per possession and increase your chances of winning the game based on your play. There are no points awarded for taking a harder shot from a worse position on the floor unless you are taking a 3 point shot.

Hakeem had fewer rebounds, fewer blocks, fewer asists and was a lot less efficient than Shaq in teh Finals. As I've pointed out before Hakeem's efficiency dropped significantly in the finals compared to the rest of the playoffs that year (whereas Shaq's FG% stayed obscenely high (60%) in the Finals as well as teh rest of the playoffs).

FWIW this suggests both that Hakeem did not slow down Shaq but also that Shaq did slow down Hakeem

Your right, Hakeem's 33 pts and 12 rebounds didn't make a difference.

Wrong. The objective is to score more points than your opponent, and BTW Hakeem scored more points than Shaq (funny you didnt mention that, though). According to your logic, Shaq is better than MJ because he was infinitely more efficient from the field.

First of all, learn to spell.

Second of all, I never said his production didn't make a difference.

Third of all, check what Hakeem's supporting cast did compared to Shaq's.

Fourth of all, frick off.

I don't know bro. Hakeem's total shooting percentage was pretty beast in that series

well we all already admit that Shaq had more rebounds, assists, and blocks than Hakeem so we're now down to talking about the scoring.

Seeing as Hakeem (in the Finals) literally took an extra 10.5 shots per game to score an 4.75 points it seems like the Magic not only had worse supporting players they also did a much worse job of getting the ball to the one guy who was unstoppable.

Firstly, I didn't make a spelling error. It was a grammatical error Learn the difference

And you said they won the series "not because of what Hakeem did," which I found silly. Sure his supporting cast stepped up. But so did Hakeem, the Finals MVP.

Damn, why so angry? Not even 20 posts in, too? You're off to a great start

Why did Hakeem take 42 more shots than Shaq? Maybe he was more aggressive

More like his teammates gave him the ball more than Shaq's. The Rockets also outrebounded the Magic in that series as well. They were eating up Offensive Rebounds which equals more field goal attempts.

Hakeem may have won the Finals MVP, but he wasn't the best player or performer in that series.
