I would say it's definitely a three-way tie between Y.A. Tittle, Steve Van Buren, and Jim Taylor, who are all in the NFL Hall of Fame. It's hard to choose the best out of those three guys. What do y'all think?

Kevin Faulk

Is success in the NFL not measured by rings? This is a rhetorical question.

Kevin Faulk

He has three and was on the same team for 13 years. He was also selected to the Patriots All-2000s team.

When it comes to championship success, Kevin Faulk definitely leads the pack.

Jim Taylor played for the Lombardi era Packers. He wins. He's also the only guy not named Jim Brown to lead the NFL in rushing when Jim Brown when was in the league.

4 championships
first rushing td in a super bowl
Held single season rushing record for Packers until Ahman Green broke it

ETA: Plus 5 straight 1,000 yard seasons
I can endorse Jim Taylor for most successful. Faulk is right there though.

Out of all the LSU Tiger football players who have played in the NFL, who do you guys think has had the most success in the pros?

Probably somebody you haven't thought about, like 9x Pro-Bowler Alan Faneca or somebody like that.

Faulk is one of my childhood idols and favorite Tigers. He was a good running back on some very good Patriots teams.

If we're not including Taylor/Tittle, I don't see how you could say anyone but either Mawae or Faneca has been the most succesful. Those two are Hall-of-Famers.

This. The first has been to 8 Pro Bowls, the second to 9. In terms of individual success, it doesn't get much better than that. Super Bowl rings are team accomplishments and while Faulk absolutely played a huge role for the Pats, he was lucky to land there.

So if a player isn't a QB then rings are a team accomplishment?

Rings are the pinnacle of success in the NFL. MVP's are great, pro bowls are great, ask anyone who played in the NFL and got those without getting a ring what they would prefer.

You can't just discount Super Bowl rings.

Didn't Jim Taylor win 5 NFL titles before there even was a Superbowl? Hard to argue against what he accomplished in his career...

Does Faneca not have a ring? 9 time Pro Bowler with a ring>>>>3 DB with 3 rings.

Rings carry more weight with a starting QB than a glorified 3rd down back.

Faulk winning 3 rings with the Pats doesn't make automatically make him a better career player than Mawae and Faneca, not by a longshot.

So what you're saying is that Chase Daniel > Dan Marino or Jim Kelley or Bert Jones or Y.A. Tittle?
Rings are a team accomplishment and don't really mean anything individually; they can be hocked for drug money.

Uh, its a team accomplishment for QBs, too.

For a team, yes.
