neighborhoods in Baton Rouge for young married couple

friend and wife are moving to br sometime in the next 6 months. they were wondering where a safe neighborhood would be in baton rouge for them to buy a home and start a family.

their price range is around $225,000.

would have asked the OT but.... no

i woud have answered myself, but i have no idea of any neighborhoods in br... even though i have been here since 2007

Obligatory Springlake......

Kenilworth would be good if they want something older, possibly Pollard Estates or Southdowns.

I guess it depends on where in the city they want to live.

I wouldn't want to be out Florida Blvd or Shenandoah, but a lot of people like those areas.

Westminster-Pine Park off Jefferson between Essen and Bluebonnet. Very convenient if they want to be in BR. We've been here for about 6 years and are very happy.

Country Meadow off of Stumberg. Quiet neighborhood with lots of young families.

Spring Lakes, Azalea Lakes, Iberville Terrace, Bluebonnet area behind all those offices, near Jefferson.

Beauregard Town, Spanish Town, Capitol Heights, Zeeland Gardens, old Goodwood, Southdowns for older neighborhoods near LSU, the parkins overpass area, or downtown.

Hickory Ridge, Broadmoor, Shenandoah, Kenilworth, Tara, or Wesminster if they want a bigger lot.

Spring Lake or Azalea Lake if they want something a little newer with 3 bedrooms.

Stay south of Florida, and stay out of Gardere or Blvd de Province.

Depending on what side of town you want, springlake, Jefferson terrace, Jefferson park, stumberg place

Springlake was a terrible experience for me. It made me realize that I can't live in those new fangled cookie-cutter neighborhoods. I do like Jefferson Terrace though.

It really depends on where the OP works, how much space between houses he wants, and whether or not he is planning on sending his kids to private schools. Don't live more than 15 miles/30 minutes from work. Don't underestimate Baton Rouge traffic. Don't depend on the interstate for everyday use.

Southdowns, Tara, and Capital Heights would be my recommendations.

Westminster, Inniswald, Shenandoah, Tigerbend, Old Jefferson, and Broadmoor are all decent, albeit, out of the way, options as well.

Would also add in Woodlawn Estates...lived there for while a few years ago, always liked it.

I'd steer clear of Broadmoor and Sherwood Forest.

I would not call Westminster "out of the way." I think it's the best location in town. Just a couple minutes away from I-10, I-12, Airline, Bluebonnet, Essen.
