What holes do you see post-draft?

I know it isn't realistic for the whole draft class to make an impact day 1, but I thought we did a great job of meeting value with needs.

Our biggest holes pre-draft were:

-LT: If Brown could stay healthy, this would be way less of a need, but that's a big if that may never happen. Armstead is there physically to play day 1, it just may take some time mentally to take the jump from Arkansas Pine-Bluff to the NFL.

-SS: Harper probably gets more flack than he deserves, but the bottom line is he can't cover, and he is overpaid. Vaccaro screams SS from what I've seen from him. He seems like he'll be able to do everything Harper can, plus cover.

-OLB: Adding Rufus and Chase Thomas to an already group of young pass rushers looks real promising. In a perfect world, I'd like to see a vet here too, but the position is already pretty crowded, and likely at least one of them should stand out.

-NT\D-line depth: With Bunkley penciled in as starting NT, and Hicks as the back up, getting a true NT became a big need. IMO, Hicks would be a waste a NT. Putting Jenkins at NT, allows to rotate him and Bunkley there, and put Hicks at the end and let him destroy shite out there.

-WR depth: Morgan looks like he is devolving into a nice deep threat, but the depth at this position isn't what it was a few years ago. Adding Toon off of a redshirt year, and Stills, we should be good there.

I'm having trouble finding too many holes after this draft. Being picky, I think ILB and maybe CB depth stick out the most. Reddick as a UDFA was a steal, and could be some big help there, and if White continues to devolp, CB may not be a big concern at all. Thoughts?

It's hard to say. It all depends on how our picks pan out.

Happy with this draft. We're a good team that lost their coach. We upgraded our D in the last few days as well as potentially putting our front 7 in a defense that suits their skill level.

Can't wait for Atlanta.

frick the Falcons.

Who are the backups at G and C? I can't think of who it is.

We have to see how the young WRs turn out but no "hole" there.

After that, honestly I feel pretty good.

re: What holes do you see post-draft?

Assuming the picks pan out how we think they will:

Elite LT: Someone we have may be serviceable or could surprise us and be great, but I don't think LT is fully addressed. We may get by this year... again.

SS who can also cover: I think Vaccaro is more of a threat to Jenkins and PRob than Harper and Ryan uses the SS as a box safety, but he will be asked to cover from time to time. We could likely get by with him again and maybe Ryan hides his coverage skills even better than GW did, but it would be nice to have someone more versatile.

Vet OLB that can also cover: I think we are set with guys that can rush, but it would be nice to have someone that has at least has 2 years starting experience and can do more than rush. Despite the common thinking, OLBs in a 3-4 don't both rush every single down. They are asked to cover TEs, RBs, and slot guys sometimes.

Stronger RT: Strief is decent and we have some young guys that could do well, but I'd like to see a mauler on the right side.

A more legit WR if the youngsters don't step up: More so a speed guy that can be consistent as we have a big target(Colston; and Graham can play that role) and a very reliable slot guy(Moore). I have hope for Morgan, but he is still unproven.

I think QB, RB, FB, TE, C, OG, CB, ILB, DE, NT, K, and P are all set.

If Brees goes down no one we have or could get would be truly effective any way.

RB depth is deep and FBs barely play and are low injury risk.

OG and C are fine barring freak injuries.

We have 2 legit starting CBs, and 3 guys that can play nickel.

We have 3/4(if Wilson also plays ILB part time) legit ILBs and some other guys for depth.

We have 2 young guys and 2 vets for good rotation, along with some other young guys who are less proven.

We have 1 vet, 1 2nd year, and a rookie to rotate here, along with some other young guys.

Hopefully Vaccaro is ready to go, gotta get either Jenkins or Harper out of there quick otherwise I'm pretty meh about everything until we play our first game.

Excited about Chase Thomas and Reddick though

So far, our DE's consist of Will Smith, Cam Jordan, and Akiem Hicks(?). None of them have played on a 3-4.

Jordan played in a 3-4 in college. Smith played in that role on our 3 man fronts with Williams.

But to our defense overall, I really see us being more of an "amoeba" defense like what Ryan did in Cleveland against us than just a straight up 3-4.

Look at guys like Hawthorne and Wilson, who can play both inside and outside. Look at guys like Vacarro, Jenkins, and White, who can play different roles in the secondary. Up front, you have a guy like Hicks who can cover the nose or play on the end.

I wouldn't be surprised to see plays with only one guy with his hand in the dirt and bizarre looking personnel packages, for example.

Because of the rules in favor of the offense, you really have to scheme better and confuse the opposition into cheep turnovers and minimal gains/negative plays. One way to accomplish this is to make it as difficult as possible for the QB and OL to know what the coverage is and where the pressure is coming from.

re: What holes do you see post-draft?

Coleman and Jordan have both played in a 3-4(I'll give you Jordan was just in college, but he was a beast 3-4 end in college). Hicks projected as a possible 3-4 coming out of college. As Soph said, Smith played some 3-4 under GW.

Smith is the only one out of the top 4 rotation I have some doubt about doing it full time, but then again someone said Ryan mentioned him as an OLB(not sure if he meant part time or full time; guessing part time).

That said, Jordan does not have to rotate out. He's very young and fresh and played just about every snap last year. That leaves 3 guys to rotate one spot, and one of them came from Ryan's 3-4 in Dallas(and I think Cleveland also).

I guess there has been no attempt to fix that?

How did a team with similar personnel rank in the top 5 in 2010. The hole in the personnel was no where near the size of the hole in the scheme. Not to mention the fact that we lacked a coach.

The Saints are about to arse rape some teams this season, I honestly believe that. There are positions I'd like a little more at, but the overall depth on this team is very, very promising. This is a deep team.

Why even post that? That's all you have to share? Pathetic.
