Tom Brokaw turns down White House Correspondents' Dinner

At least someone at NBC still has some sense:

quote:

“The breaking point for me was Lindsay Lohan,” Brokaw told POLITICO during a recent interview in his office in the NBC News Rockefeller Plaza headquarters in New York. “She became a big star at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Give me a break.”

He didn't do it for something based in principles, just that a tart with problems was on the guest list.

They're all part of the same entertainment business now. He must not have gotten the memo.

Or maybe they always were and he's just trying to rewrite (entertainment) history.

Gee. I thought she endorsed Romney.

Oh that's right. They got her and Mr. Burns from the Simpsons to endorse Romney as a joke, proving once and for all that Democrats are nothing but snarky little juveniles.

re: Tom Brokaw turns down White House Correspondents' Dinner

I first reada this post as "Tom Brokaw burns down White House Correspondents' Dinner" that wouldve been better thana mama's spaghetti.

On the topic:

White House correspondents partiers say Tom Brokaw’s got it wrong

Are these people full ofa themselves or what:

Here isa what he said:
quote:

What kind of image do we present to the rest of the country?” Brokaw asked. “Are we doing their business, or are we just a group of narcissists who are mostly interested in elevating our own profiles? And what comes through the screen on C-SPAN that night is the latter, and not the former

Here is howa they try anda prove him wrong:

quote:

I understand the idea of the ‘celebrification’ of the event but I think it’s more of a testament to how interesting and compelling Washington politics is to the outside world.”

quote:

“It’s a fun night,” she said. “I don’t get to smile much at work with the stories I cover.”

quote:

It’s a fun event for everybody, it’s for people from outside Washington [to] come see how things work in the capital and how people in this town operate.” Hollywood will get their own chance to get a look at the dysfunction and gridlock in this town.”

He's right for the wrong reasons.

Political journalism is in the crapper but Lindsay Lohan getting a free meal to be paraded around and pointed at has nothing to do with it.

All journalism is in the crapper. I mean have you watched ESPN recently?

I've never seen a group of people so obsessed over a 2nd round LB and so worried about if a NFL player is going to come out of the closet.
