posted my 670 on HWswap. how do you make sure that everyone gets their end of the bargain? Is there any kind of buyer/seller protection?

re: PC Discussion - Gaming, Performance and Enthusiasts
Coyote -- here's the setup I was telling you about last night. My first venture into watercooling a decade ago.

Tygon food grade tubing (the most readily available stuff of that time)

- Universal GPU block from Danger Den for my 9800 Pro flashed to XT
- Swiftech CPU block cooling my P4 3.2Ghz OC'ed to 4.0.
- Mag aquarium pump sitting below my 5.25" bay reservoir (not pictured). Required external power in an outlet. (see the black cord in the foreground)
- Modded heater core from a 70s Chevelle.
- Shitty LED fan
- Wad of bubblewrap temporarily holding up the heater core until I could find a mounting solution.
- Distilled water mixed with a little bit of antifreeze.
- Barbs and hose clamps

Apparently I had a floppy drive too.

Those were the days.

If they have a ram stick next to their name then they're legit. Make sure you post a pic and timestamp in your post

If you're unsure of someone, let me know and I can help you out

That is real cool shtt. I was rocking an Athlon64 and 6700 GT with far less performance and just straight air cooling.

This is OnTheVerge type shtt that I wish I would have been a part of. I was more worried about partying and drinking around that time period than PCs but remember builds from guys getting into it in 2001-2002 on Computer-Forum.com Like I said last night really cool man.. my first underwater experience wasn't until a SB 2500k.

Also do you still have any of that hardware? I still have my 8800 GTX but that was out of the 2007 era.

I want to leave with this...

RIP Danger Den

ETA:

I'm changing all of my tubing to Tygon Neoprene for the 'flat' finish. Old school I know.

ETA 2:
These 2 links are for the noobies who just started building PCs. Below are the 2 sites that got me interested in PC building.

Computer Forum

OCN <-- Just started in 2007 but this is where I stay (best on the net IMO)

Back in the day.. while I was still in school I would dream on NewEgg about buying an 2 x 8800 GTX for SLi (but couldn't afford it). So this morning I was Googling 8800GTX SLi builds then came across a hybrid cooler from ASUS.

I don't remember this card TBH.. does anyone else?

I am upgrading my video card and would like to know the best bang for the buck right now. I have a 550 ti at the moment. I prefer nvidia cards.

Amd is the better bang for buck right now. If your gaming at 1080 then I suggest 7870 myst edition.

That 7870 MYST seems like it is preferring at 7950 lvl but for less.

If you 'MUST' have nVidia, then price/performance go for the 660Ti.

The only reason I prefer nvidia is because I have a dual boot system and the Mac OS hasn't added the AMD 7 series officially yet. Is the 670 much better than the 660 ti? I just want to get something that will have high performance for a few years.

If you are gaming @ 1920x1080.. nope.

Make sure you purchase a 3GB model if you want to future proof it. You can always add a 2nd 660Ti for SLi.

I will have to find the article but Toms did an article about the 3gb vs 2gb 660ti and found there was no real difference. Apparently the memory bandwith handicaps them above 2gb.

eta: Newegg has webroot secure anywhere available for $5 right now. I know many people on here hate paying for pc protection but webroot is pretty good and for only $5 worth it in my opinion.

Yes this is true.

..but im not talking about performance, i am speaking about future proofing. The user wants this card to last 2-3yrs. You will want more memory because future games will use more memory.

How is that different though. I would think if it doesn't use past 2 effectively then it wouldn't matter either way? Am I wrong?

Huh? lol

Yes but games in the future will pass 2GB of VRAM. If you hit that cap the game will be unplayable.

ETA: So if you need more arse to push frames just add a 2nd 660Ti.

That TFIII cooler is better but performance will be the same. I would get the MSI because it should be quieter.
