He will be great, they don't give a shite if he smokes in the NFL. Scouts are just downplaying him because they want to steal him. There is NO WAY he makes it out of the second and word is the Bengals are looking at him with pick #21 in the first.

i hope no one drafts this guy.

how can he be disinterested in a championship game after having everything handed to him in order for him to excel as an athlete.

I really don't even know why some people dwell on this stuff, he's no longer part of the program. He did a lot of great things at LSU but he also made multiple terrible decisions. Kids gonna kid.

Instead of being considered one of the greatest teams ever, 2011 LSU is nothing more than a footnote. Winning the SEC championship that year is pretty much irrelevant when your arch rival beats you to win a much bigger prize, the National Championship. During and after the game, Les looked like he just didn't care.

So Sam says he didn't get up for meaningless games and his draft stock dropped significantly and was labeled as "lazy".

TM says he didn't want to play in the biggest game of his life at the time, and......

1/9 is where I lost all respect for Les Miles. I'll never forgive him for that abomination that he tried to win the national championship with. He had it all right there for LSU, a truly dominant season with an opportunity to cap it off by beating your arch rival in your backyard to win the BCS and be considered as one of the greatest and most dominant college football teams of all time with how dominant LSU was all year long. Instead he fricked up in the worst possible way at the worst possible time. If he has another sub par year in 2013, it basically confirms 2011 as an outlier for Les Miles IMO.

I hope you are miserable for the rest of your life.

That's good stuff right there.

What did you do in the 90s? Were you on suicide watch?

re: Tyrann Mathieu Wanted to Skip the National Title Game

Just some random thoughts -

Whenever I read or here about football players getting in trouble (not just referring to TM here, more generally), whether it be drugs, fights, domestic violence issues, or whatever, I often think about the idea of taking the good with the bad. Now, I'm not excusing the behavior, and if rules are broken, appropriate disciplinary action should follow.

What I'm getting at is, football is a violent game full of passion and emotion. There are a range of different personality types and predispositions that can make up a good football player. But in certain instances, with some of these players that have a strong inclination toward wild behavior, I wonder that if you were to hypothetically take away the innate piece of their makeup that was the impetus for the wild behavior that led to getting in trouble, you might be simultaneously taking away the piece of their makeup that made them a good football player.

I mean, ideally you'd like to tame the off-field behavior while maintaining the violent on-field mindset. But maybe for some the dichotomy isn't that easily achieved, or maybe not at all. I think this is more applicable to certain positions than others. I think it definitely comes into play for defensive players because of the violent, attacking nature of playing D. The first example that comes to mind is the NFL Network's #1 Defensive player in NFL history Lawrence Taylor.

With regard to Mathieu specifically, maybe he's an instance of this. Maybe the thing that drove him to tweet maniacally was the same thing that drove him to play like a savage on the football field.

Maybe if you take marijuana out of TM's life, he's not the same football player. In my own experience, I can attest to a creative value and other positive aspects of using marijuana.

Astronomer Carl Sagan also had positive things to say about the usage of cannabis.

TM was probably the most unique & dynamic player I've ever seen at LSU. I wish him the best of luck.

He needs to shut his trap. The moment things start looking up for him, he says or does something idiotic.

Nobody wants to hear this TM. Keep your mouth shut, head down and work your tail off. Nothing else will get you out of this mess that is of your creation.

I would say to him if I spoke to him. From a distance.

In my humble opinion, the whole team didn't want to be there. A DAMN SHAME!!! Also worst coached game I have ever seen.

What you say is backwards. Weed calmed the inner beast down in Mathieu's I think. If you take the weed away that personality on the field may start to emerge in real life. Stay tuned.

I didn't say the opposite of what you have said.

I'm just entertaining the idea that cannabis aided Mathieu as a football player, I'm not saying in exactly what way. You may be right, I don't know.

We sucked.

They didn't.

Miles had a 60-minute brain fart.

We lost.

They won.

I think that sums it up (everything else is just an excuse).

Oh, and I lost a lot of money attending (and for the record, I was excited).

Tyrann was named king of the 7th ward park he played at in NOLA for being the best player in pee wee league when he was 10. Was he smoking weed then? Not likely.

I'd still take a chance on him as an NFL team because a lot of picks don't pan out anyway. Many teams start gambling in the 3rd round and after. He'll at least give you some excitement and make plays for a year before messing up enough to get kicked off the team. The guy has had a tough life and his parental situation is probably not something that would ever leave one's mind.

He was the most explosive defensive player I've ever seen at LSU and they've had many awesome ones. He's worth a shot. If he can stay out of trouble he'd really be worth it.

I don't get this attitude. We created hundreds of threads speculating what happened in that game hoping a player would come out and explain SOMETHING. Well, when that player does and what he says doesn't jive with your OPINIONS, suddenly THE WHISTLE BLOWING PLAYER you always hoped for is more stupid than you and needs to shutup.
