re: Thinking of Moving West - I guess CO is out

There are plenty small towns all over that are nice places to live. My wife would move to Pagosa Springs Co in a heartbeat. Bozeman Montana is also a nice bigger town.

Wyoming I always liked Sheridan or Buffalo. They are small towns but big enough to have the comforts of life.

Sounds like she could do well in Jackson Hole. Lots of rich folks to take advantage of.

I've always thought Wyoming would be nice. AND it would be close enough to CO that she could visit her friend.

Check out Saratoga Wyoming. Small town in southern wy close to Denver I-70 corridor. Good fly fishing great elk hunting. Has a golf course that used to be a hangout for some really rich folks guess it still is. Prairie dogs everywhere for Hawkeye.

I've camped near Sheridan, not a bad place.

Sandpoint Idaho is underrated. Probably not as cold as Northern Wyoming, but has a ski area and gorgeous terrain. Northern part of Idaho.

Wait, what's wrong with CO? It's absolutely amazing there... (note, I know nothing of the gun stuff)

You should take a heavy look into the Verde Valley area (Sedona, AZ) in northern Arizona... you can do it all there. Skiing at flagstaff an hour away, perfect temperatures most of the year because you're in a valley near the bottom of the rockies, a nice river stocked with rainbows for the kids, a decent bass lake or two within 20 minutes. Hiking, Rock Climbing, or even golfing to your hearts content within half an hour in any direction. Tons of Indian castles and shite. I could go on...

northern cali? I love it there and will be moving in a few months. great weather and wildlife. plus land is cheap so you could get some land for your hawk to hunt and you too if you like to hunt.

Alaska, Idaho, Montana or Utah if my family would go for it.

I worked on my wife for about a year til she realized I was dead set on moving. Once she got on board, things went really smooth. You gotta help impart the vision.

Speaking of cheap, it appears that Bend, OR tops the charts in most overpriced real estate in the nation. I don't think you guys understand my situation. I'm not an OB baller. I'm the guy that drives his wife's 40mpg Focus instead of his FX4 any time he has to go more than 40 miles.

I actually have looked at these areas in the past. Haven't ruled them out. I know they have quail. How's the rabbit/jackrabbit hunting out there?

I know while living there I saw PLENTY of rabbits (at the time don't remember if jack or not) tons of Javelina, and heard quite a few coyotes. Also saw a few Mountain Lions.

ETA: for reference that's in about 5 years of doing a decent amount of hiking but no hunting to speak of. Also have herds of antelope (or is it gazelle? I get the two confused) running around the valley.

Beat me to it. I'd definitely go to Bend. Plenty of rich people who want an instructor/coach.

You and your hawk would love it.
