Irrelevant.

It's relevent b/c he said mailmen NEVER shoot dogs. That's b/c they don't have guns.

It shows that mace is effective at stopping dogs.

I'm sure mace can stop dogs sometimes. Not all of the time.

Do we know if the officer used mace before he shot the animal?

all police these days have mace. It stops dogs. All the cops around me have stun guns too.

Yet still dogs always get shot.

My theory is people who carry guns want to use them. seriously.

This.

Well I'd be fricked because my dog has never bitten a person before, but she sure as hell comes running and possibly even barking when a person arrives. I better make sure to never answer my door without restraining her.

SCARY.

I can't believe nobody posted a picture of the full grown version of the dog in the op so the retards who can't get past the puppy pic could settle down.

I'm more concerned with Redbone acting like dogs are somehow immune to mace.

He seemed very upset. I thought it was pretty honest of the OP to say that it was an old pic. But a couple people still seemed deeply offended.

All cops don't have mace or tazers. I have never had a tazer, but I do have mace. Each situation is different and you have to look at all the circumstances at the time.

How would you handle one??

Clearly that doesn't matter to you. I would think the fact that 2 of your fellow high school dropouts found mace to be an effective deterrent would demonstrate the point for you, but clearly I was expecting too much.

I'll read through this thread later, but don't cops carry mace? Why not just mace the dog?

mace the dog, mace the dog, mace the dog. That is what I keep reading. How many have ever maced a dog? What does "threatened" mean? Was it moving in his direction growling?? Mace just pisses off some dogs when they are in protection mode. You can mace your grandma but mace (there are different kinds) isn't 100% sure to stop them. Tasers work .... but if you can reach him he can reach you ....

Ok.

I'm gonna get bashed for this but I'm seriously not trying to troll.

Why would an officer risk using something that may not work and getting bitten by the dog when all he has to do is shoot the thing.

I know that sounds cold. I personally would try mace or something else first before resorting to shooting. But not everyone holds dogs in high regard. They aren't people. They are people's property which is why the law works differently to allow the officers to shoot them.

Oh well, useless insults aside I do believe I have more experience with dogs and "mace" than the rest of you put together. You Rogue Scholars weren't given that actual experience mo than likely.

I'm surprised to hear that given the trend of police armament. I would have assumed you'd have fricking flashbangs by now.

Do all cops have boots? You don't have to kill a dog to stop the threat. One swift kick is all it takes 99 times out of 100 to stop a dog. Gun should be last resort, and I bet cops are trained that the firearm is a last resort.

I had cop stop me when I was walking my dog at night.
He got out of his car and my dog started barking at him.
He told me that he would shoot my dog if he bit him.
My 20 lb schnauzer who is the most harmless dog ever. :smh:

Because it's fricking ridiculous to expect anything less. Why don't they just shoot everyone that they feel is a threat while they're at it?
