Credit Cards

Wanted yalls opinion on the following:

1) what is the difference between the credit cards out there?

2) What is your favorite credit card and why?

3) Is it frowned upon to have multiple credit cards?

Runs the gamut from APR rates, reward types (Cash back, points, reduced prices), rewards in certain categories more than others (5% on gas, 1% on everything else, or 3% at restaurants, 1% everywhere else, etc), redemption policies and rates (blackout dates, point value), and merchant tie ins(More rewards at certain vendors)

I really like my Capital One Venture Card with 2% rewards on everything. I'm sure I could get cards that specialize in granting more than 2% on certain categories and have my rewards spread out over two to three cards, but I don't like to think that much.

No.

Why does AMEX charge yearly fee?

Lots of cards charge yearly fees. They provide more services/points, so they can charge it.

My Southwest Visa charges $59 a year, but when I signed up I got 50,000 points.

If you think you want to use rewards for travel, get a specialized card like maybe a Hilton Amex or Southwest Visa.

That Capital One card was a good suggestion.

So many of ya'll love this card. I can only guess your gas consumption is outrageous due to cooking meth or something.

OR you're trying to max out your points via a variety of cards.

That's like asking what is the difference between all the different model of cars one can buy

Personally my delta Amex. I get a ton of points and access to their Skyclub with it

No. I had two cards for a long time and just signed up for 2 more because they offered me $400 to do so

I drive a lot and drive a diesel truck that gets shitty mileage, my bill usually runs between 1,000 and 1,500 a month so 5% makes a difference.
