Sell Me on Demon's Souls

It's intriguing, and I'm on the fence. Go.

re: Sell Me on Demon's Souls
I wish I still had a ps3 just so I could play this game.

Dark Souls is still better though.

Incredible game. Almost as good as Dark Souls. Very fun, lots of great environments and enemies, tons of badass bosses, great challenge, very replayable, lots of cool equipment and magic

Demon's Souls is one of the most original and fresh games to come out this generation. A lot of fun and has a certain feel that most games sorely lack.

(and I liked it more than Dark Souls. Especially some of the bosses)

So the concept is great...why? And how does the combat work? What distinguishes it from other action RPGs?

The atom sphere is great because of the sum of it all. The setting, character interactions, the feeling of complete loneliness, and the music and environments really set the tone. It's super unique and I can't compare to anything but old, obscure PS1 titles.

Combat works like a bit of Elder Scrolls without being super mechanical or robotic. You can play a myriad of ways and adapt to however you want. Weapons are keyed to triggers and you choose which weapon or spell to the d-pad.

Typing from my phone so I'm not really doing my best job here. I'd just watch some gameplay and trailers online.

Biggest thing to remember is it's hard as crap. Not really forgiving. You can access areas that you have no business being, and you'll discover that when you get one hit to oblivion.

And as hard as Demon Souls can be it's still fair and rewarding. It's not difficult for the sake of being difficult.

I'm buying this next week for my trip to Houston. You should get it so we can team up

I'm buying this next week for my trip to Houston. You should get it so we can team up. Is this the first one or the second? I have the first one already. Love it. Every combat interaction takes patience and thought. You must learn your enemies moves and weaknesses. Another person can join the game as a phantom to play with you or try to kill you.

Never played Demon Souls, but Dark Souls is probably my favorite game of all time.
