I doubt the church will cave in to a bunch of a-holes like that. If it does, then shame on it.
Well there you go. The ole Liberal two-step. And it will be the churches' fault all the way. Kills two birds with one stone, don't it now. Ain't it nice how that all works out.

Kind of like Obama piling stimulus money on the FY2009 budget, and blaming the deficit it caused on Bush.

Come no, NC, that's not what I'm saying at all and you know it. I mean that surely the church won't give up its principles because of a-holes protesting.

Just curious, what exactly will it cost us

It's the law of unintended consequences.

Take the ADA legislation which provided handicap parking spaces, acdcessible facilities, etc. Good idea, and people had the right intent no doubt.

But look now what we have; 8 million disabled americans getting disability payments from the government.

That's what I meant.

So you believe that marriage is a religious institution? It was a religious institution way before the government got involved in

Yes it is.

has little or nothing to do with people receiving disability payments (SSI).

Really? Being forced to outright act in opposition to church doctrine in one case isn't possible in another?

If liberals really wanted "separation between church and state" they would apply it BOTH ways. But they do not.

Well, you're talking about a situation where a church has voluntarily entered the healthcare field and accepts subsidized payments. That's a far cry from government telling them what they have to do inside their church walls

Nope. The requirement has nothing to do with healthcare reimbursement. It's because they have employees and are required to provide complying plans. Try again.

Point well taken. It still isn't the same as forcing to perform their religious ceremony and blessed sacrament in contravention of their beliefs. It really is apples and oranges.

So explain it to me. If the government can force the church to act in direct contravention to its beliefs in the case of abortifacients, why can it not be forced to act in direct contravention to its belief on ghey marriage? Simple question.

a-holes? Really? What exactly would make them a-holes for demanding rights that you enjoy?

So telling a church they will lose their tax exempt status if they endorse a candidate or preach politics from the pulpit isn't telling them what they can and can't do within their church walls? Interesting.

Let's keep this very simple. People don't have the "right" to have the Catholic Church or any other specific church marry them. They should, however, have the "right" to have the state recognize their marriage if a church does marry them. This isn't complicated. It's just that people who, deep down, can't quite accept the concept of a gay couple having the same marital rights recognized by the state as straight people, who obscure the issue with irrelevancies.

Please provide a cite or link to an example of a court or government agency taking that position. TIA.

It isn't complicated as long as you represent conferrence of tax benefits as a "right"

What about Christians who don't support gay marriage personally but don't care what people do with their lives that doesn't affect them?

I don't care what they do. Marriage is defined already for thousands of years. I care about that.

Seriously you would love it in Iran. They run their government as a theocracy.

Actually, it's you and the queers and their supporters who are making this country more like Iran daily.

You seem to have expanded your objection, or your bringing in an argument that has nothing to do with your objection.

I had thought that you were all in favor of civil unions and the "benefits" flowing therefrom(since the term "rights" seems to be an issue all of a sudden).

You mistake pointing out your misrepresentations as indicative of my objection to Civil Union. It isn't. But just as claiming gay marriage is illegal misrepresents fact, so too does a claim of "rights" denied.
