Especially when there are plenty of churches that perform and recognize gay marriages.

So what are they missing out on? I thought it was about tax relief. If churches are doing it why the big deal.

I'm saying it's a waste of time and energy to bitch and moan about calling it "marriage"

I agree, so lets call it "A union against God's word" and be done with it. That way we don't waste time and energy. Who would bitch and moan about calling it that?

Doing the right thing is called not changing the definition of marriage and growing gov't.

THAT is the right thing.

The question I have is why so many straight people care so much about defending gay people's rights to get married. In all the topics about this on here lately you have church going people against it and other people saying there's nothing wrong with it. I have come to the conclusion that:

A. The people defending it are gay and just trying to extend their rights

or

B. They just have issue with religion and see that religious people are against it so they just take the opportunity to debate religion with them and tell them how the Bible is just an old book full of incorrect info. Mostly they do this by quoting the Bible out of context.

This is an issue more about ones moral beliefs and where those are obtained. If in church you are against it and if you don't believe in God then you just pick and choose your morals like in a Picadilly. The debate is never ending because non-believers can never admit there is a God and they will never convert believers

You are onto something.

The gay marriage crap is an attack on Christianity, religion, and the institution of marriage(man and woman). Nothing more.

They will go after churches who refuse to perform gay ceremonies.

The churches who do perform them are not Christian at all. Phonies.

Just as much as if it said "In Allah we trust"

And it doesn't really bother me honestly. Paper money =/= legislation.

Then move to Russia or China. Otherwise, deal with In God We Trust that has been legislated and will continue.

Edit: "God" was legislated to be printed. Get it?

Read much?
I said it doesn't bother me.

I couldn't really care less what phrase is printed on the dollar bill. I'd rather it not, but I really don't care. Whether it is changed or not has absolutely 0 effect on my life.

Will you be moving to Russia once the word "marriage" is defined as gay and straight in the eyes of the federal government?

re: Rush Limbaugh on gay marriage: “This issue is lost”

I find it hysterical that the same people who say "Merca frick ya" and want to bomb counties who impose their "crazy" Muslim religious beliefs on their populations via law and government are the same people thumping bibles and quoting scripture as to why gay marriage should continue to remain illegal.

Get over yourselves. Not everyone is a Christian. By forcing your beliefs via state and national law on others who don't believe as you do, you're no better than the Taliban IMO.

I'm a straight Christian man but I don't plan on force feeding my beliefs down someone's throat if their views don't align with mine, so long as my rights are not infringed upon. Gay marriage is something that has ZERO effect on me or how I live my life, so IDGAF if it is legal.

I don't want others telling me how to live my life and I'm not going to tell them how to live theirs.

I am not really a "strong" supporter of gay marriage as much as I am about exposing the hypocrisy of those who oppose. One argument put forth in front of the SCOTUS focused on marriage being intended for strictly pro creation reasons? I had to laugh because the justices thought it was ridiculous to argue that point too since older people get married all the time with zero chance of reproducing. Should we cap the age of marriage in general?
