As someone stated earlier, how is it that IAQ outshined Jenkins with the same pass rush?

Warmack would be a hard press for value but still isn't enough for my #15. It's too huge of a burden to deal with. Every other team knows you couldn't realistically keep them all. Whoever you wanted to move's trade value would be diminished greater than the premium of Warmack at #15.

You could make the same case for Geno Smith if he was on the board.

A little lower down and it does get to that have-to position. That was Deuce in 2001. Rickey had just run for 1000yds. RB was way off in need. Deuce demanded it though that low. These same Saints at #20-25 I prolly get on board with taking the overwhelming value and deal with it.

That worked out for Green Bay with Rodgers at #24. It did however take three full years of zero from that 1st Rder before the payoff hit.

Elam >>>> Vacarro and Reid. In a few years, Elam could very well be the best defensive player out of this draft.

If we get help up in the front 7, I can see Jenkins having a great year. Harper gets much deserved hate on his pass coverage, but he's a great tackler. We have bigger needs than S.

Edge rush player(DE or OLB) or CB is what we need. And if Rhodes isn't there, I would take Trufant. Best pure cover CB in the draft.

Saints will probably resign Porter and will have solved the need at CB with Lewis and Porter. Wish they would have went after Michael Bennett at DE and that would have taken care of another need. Then they could have went after whoever in the draft.

Signing Lewis and potentially signing Porter doesn't solve our CB spot just like signing Butler doesn't solve our edge rush spot. You can never have too many CBs or pass rushers in the NFL. Especially the NFL of today.

Lewis and Porter are enough with Greer as one starter already and Patrick lewis still in the mix. You don't need to bring in other CB's with obvious glaring needs in other areas.

Agreed, especially on the OLB part.

If we land Nnamdi than I feel really good about the cornerback spot. Porter would be nice to add, if not Nnamdi, but he's way too injury prone to bring in and feel the position is in great shape. The signing of Lewis was a great one and automatically made the position better, but it's definitely not something to feel safe about. Greer is getting older. Robinson is OK, at times... and White could be good, but definitely unproven.

At OLB, there is loads of potential with Wilson, Galette and Butler. However, none of this is guaranteed stuff. If one of the big 4 OLBs are there he's a Saint, unless a guy like Star is there.

Have we signed Porter yet? No. Is Greer on the back end of his career? Yes. Who is Patrick Lewis?

If we do sign Porter, then yes I would take OLB/ DE or Elam.

I like Elam a lot. He won't be the pick at 15 but I too like him to be a better pro than Reid or Vacarro. OLB is still definitely on the board even with the Butler signing.

Lane Johnson, isn't falling, but I hope he does.

Haha why not? If we get help up front it would free him up to make plays.

And if the guy we want at 15 isn't there, I would want to trade back in the 1st and take Elam at around 20-30 and go after Jamie Collins in the 2nd.

Warmack is the best player in this draft regardless of position. If we have a chance at him I say take him.

A franchise player still there at 15 is worth more than a potential player.

You have a bad understanding, guy. I said "if" they signed Porter. I don't really care what any of you say, that would be enough. Other areas of the defense would then be of need to be addressed like another DE rusher or safety. A safety that can cover is more of a need then another cornerback.

re: We've addressed CB and a pass rushing OLB in free agency (1st rd pick talk)

Porter and Greer are both average to below average CBs. Not like we are signing a stud at CB. Lewis is a good physical guy that will improve our CB spot. But signing just Porter isn't enough. O and I don't really care what any of you say either? It wouldnt be enough. If Rhodes is there at 15, take him no matter who we sign. And I think that CB is more of a spot we need rather than S. Edge rusher and CB is what we need, especially if Rhodes is there.

Again, who is Patrick Lewis??

He's not much of a play maker. He's not a good safety. I can't see him going from a bad safety to a GREAT.

It's ideal to be able to trade back and collect more picks, but it's easier said than done. To many moving parts than just saying " i would like to trade back".

So we have no LB that has ever played a full season at 3-4 OLB and we're crossing that off the list for need? It would be no surprise if Mingo or Jones might be the BPA at #15 as well. Still no go? Afraid I still want more competition for such a vital component of 3-4 success. None of the Top 3 LTs will be available. Lotulelei is the premier non OLB talent that could demand must-pick status.

This.

Haha hey I said could have a great season. Which for him means he improves and becomes reliable and consistent. Not talking about him being all pro. But a solid decent safety, I can see it.

And I agree its hard to trade back and get what you want, but there have been a few teams with a lot of draft picks that have openly said they want to move up.

Ask the saints who is Patrick Lewis. they thought enough of him to draft in the first. Patrick Lewis to me is a quality backup, not starting material, but enough to be a backup. And I think you underestimate Greer who was hurt a lot last season and wasn't quite himself. Saints need to take Jarvis Jones because Mingo will be gone and then try and get a second round pick and take Eric Reid.

And then come back in the third and grab the Honeybadger and maybe that will shut you up.

Dude are you talking about Patrick Robinson? Patrick Lewis is a Center for TAMU and will be entering the draft this year. And P Rob is below average for a backup. And I don't under estimate Greer. He's a 31 year old CB whose best years are behind him. And he's not that great in run support. Was average in his prime, and his prime is behind him.

Elam>>>>> Reid.

I don't know why everyone STILL wants to add vet CB's... Greer, Lewis, PRob (who will play better in man coverage w/ a pass rush) are all serviceable starters. Plus Corey White and Mack if we get him resigned. I wouldn't mind taking a CB in the draft at some point, even Rhodes at 15... But why keep throwing vet money out on ONE position. If anything get a LT signed--McKinney, Gaither?
