0.4% Growth, Better Than Expected

Thanks, Obama!

quote:

The economy grew at an annual rate of 0.4 percent in the October-December quarter, the Commerce Department said Thursday. That was slightly better than the previous estimate of 0.1 percent growth. The revision reflected stronger business investment and export sales.

Whoa, whoa, whoa....

The worst economic recovery in history is not important right now.

Gay marriage is important.

Forget that we still have record numbers of unemployment, a decreased labor participation rate, spending still at unprecedented levels, record numbers on food stamps. What is important is 2 dudes may or may not be allowed to get married.

Yep, They're too busy altering the social makeup of our society to give a damn about the fact that we are slowly eroding as an economic super power.

Remember when GHW Bush was vilified for the "worst economy in 50 years" after two down quarters and while the economy was recovering at 2.6% ???

The revision reflected the panicked selloff of certain assets/investments before January 1, 2013's new taxes kicked in.

This is negative growth if these number aren't inflation adjusted, even using the BLS's manipulated CPI numbers.

I'm 99% sure it's adjusted, albeit with the flawed CPI.

Don't forget abortion rights. That was the key issue for a college girl interviewed around the time of the last election. Not the ability/inability of finding a job after graduation. She was voting for Obama because Romney was waging a war on women and abortion was going to be taken away. That was her make or break issue. 1) abortions rights..............97) The economy.

It would probably be negative if MIT's Billion Price index was used instead of CPI. I trust their index muuuuuuuuch more as an accurate representation of inflation. LINK

re: 0.4% Growth, Better Than Expected

What is sad and frustrating is that this has been successfully painted by the democrats and a complicit media, both actively and tacitly, as being the new normal.

I watch CNN more than any other news agency. I was watching some media documentary around lunch time earlier this week in which they were talking about apprenticeships being on the rise and pointed out a company in new york that is housing men and women (Real World style) in a NYC condo in which they apprentice for start-ups. Of course, the walls of the condo were decorated with things such as posters of Che'. Oh well.

Anyway, the name of the segment was "Smart Is The New Rich". When you let that sink in for a second, it is ridiculous on so many levels that it is absurd.

It goes with the prevailing message though...if you are rich, you got that way by screwing people...if you are poor, the government is your rightful caretaker and will right the wrongs preventing you from being rich...but don't aspire to be rich (unless you vote democrat and will donate to the cause).
