I'm not really sure what to feel at this point. I have to think Payton/Loomis have their plan in place and are just waiting for the right time, but what are they waiting for now? I don't see the benefit in waiting this long to address Smith, Vilma, or Harpers contract. I mean there's no way there not going to address these, we're still over the cap.
Goddamit this is frustrating.

As I said in the other thread the Saints are simply showing respect by giving the players as much time as possible to make their decision.
They know the numbers if they cut them, and they likely have a final offer range if they stay so it doesn't benefit them to do anything a moment before they have to.
Also, a restructure is possible for Harper, but don't expect a cut until at least June 1st as the rule for designating June 1st cuts says their money still stays on the books until that day.
Being that Harper has $2.6 mil left in guarantees and $3.5 in signing bonuses he'd still be on the cap for $6.1 mil. To keep him costs $7.1 mil. They aren't cutting him early for $1 mil in savings.
I think Bduhon figured he'd save $3.5 mil or so after June 1st so it'll be interesting to see where they draft a SS and how he does in early camps.

Concerned we haven't cut smith and Vilma yet. I can't see how a restructure makes sense for either one.
Love em for what they've done but we gotta win now.
