Home Improvement---The wife and I added on a 20K patio addition to our home last fall. Can I claim any of this? TIA

re: Tax question
Possibly the interest you paid on it. If you figure out a way to claim a slab of concrete on taxes, let me know. If got a big yard and could pour some concrete in it every year if that means I get a tax break.

Did you suffer any damage from Hurricane Isaac?

No, not unless your "home" is a place of business.

Wrong answer for being able to deduct your expenses, but you can't change facts. It's too bad because hurricanes make for good circumstances.

I'd love to be preparing tax returns in areas impacted by Tropical Storm Sandy. I'd be going door to door telling people I could file their returns such that they would get every dollar they had withheld refunded.
