re: ESPN: "UT has chance to build Louisiana pipeline"

Look, it hasn't been LSU that has avoided Texas over the years. Texas has done everything it can to keep LSU at bay because they already had their hands full with A&M and OU. They still do.

All this Texas big talk is nothing but that. Hell, if Texas wants to pass on Texas kids to come chase a couple in Louisiana then so what? We are already going head to head with Bama at every turn and I don't think LSU is losing that many players to Bama. I suppose Texas thinks that their "brand" is so high and mighty that it is above Bama, UF, UGA, ND, USC and others who are already recruiting against LSU in La.???

Crap, come join in the fray and see what happens. I am already tired of this Longhorn bull shite. Truth be known, they have been overrated in recruiting in the past several years and I think they are never going to dominate Texas like they have in the past. There are too many kids. They can only sign 25 so if they come take a kid out of Louisiana we can come take one from Texas to make up for it.

In the end, before you start crowning yourselves as some powerhouse recruiting machine in Louisiana then come friggin' do it before you run your mouths because as it stands right now Texas and A&M COMBINED haven't done nearly the recruiting job in Louisiana that LSU has done in Texas.

LSU has ALWAYS recruited Texas and will continue to do so. From Y.A. Tittle; Charles Alexander; Alan Faneca; Eric Martin and Harvey Williams all the way up to Ed Paris and Hardeman, LSU is a player in Texas. Plain and simple.

Apparently LSU landing Hardeman, Ed Paris, and looking strong with Tony Brown (his sister is already at LSU) has stirred up our little friends across the Sabine. So what!! In reality Texas is scared and they should be because the SEC is in Texas to stay. So go join the Pac12 or BIG or whatever conference which wants you and your arrogance and Longhorn Network and tell yourselves what a power you are while the football world passes you dumbasses by.

To you Longhorn fans, as Miles would say, "Have a GREAT day!". LOL.

Tigerfan,LSU has not taken a player Texas wanted since RP who was never in love with Texas but miffed at Saban because he would not kiss his ass

Sorry man but you are just factually incorrect. Texas wanted David Jenkins, Shep, Loston, legit offers out to Ed Paris, Tony Brown, etc. Some are "debatable" like Terrance Toliver because he never showed UT interest for one reason or another, but make no mistake UT would've taken him in a heartbeat. It's like when LSU fans say we didn't lose Denzell Devall because he wanted to play in a 3-4, but the fact is we still lost out on an in-state player we wanted - no matter how you want to sugar coat it to make it easier to swallow. But hey, if you buy into the "Mack didn't offer, the kid had a handler, UT was never REALLY interested, kid wasn't a good fit, Mack wouldn't lie to him like Les did" type of bull shite that UT fans like to say, go for it. I'm not going to argue with ya there, just pointing out a simple indisputable fact that LSU gets more Texas players with UT offers than UT gets Louisiana players with LSU offers.

The only reason I replied to you is that I find the notion that, if they simply made it a priority, Texas could take Louisiana's best players and LSU's best assistant coaches to be laughable. If it were so easy, don't you think they'd be doing it? Ofcourse they would. But apparently that line of thinking is too logical for you to wrap your head around.

UT is a great program with a great brand but right now they're competing in a lesser conference with an over the hill coach. That's all there is to it. Any talk of UT hitting Louisiana hard for recruits is just that - talk. Meanwhile LSU is going in and taking the two best DBs in Texas.

Tigerfan,I'm not saying Texas can take who they want from Louisiana. I'm saying that they are a viable threat, like Bama for anyone they recruit in Louisiana.Same with Notre Dame if they keep winning.Don't underestimate tradition and brand when you discuss recruiting. Texas has a much easier path to MNCG than LSU.Plaing in a pathetic Big 8 Conference did not hurt OU and Nebraska's recruiting because they waltzed into the Orange Bowl every year with a high national ranking.

Bama has taken Collins,Devall,Slyve and Sentimore from LSU. Texas is not going to be down foe long. They never have before. They are not Bama but still powerful name in recruiting. It's childish to dismiss Texas as a player in Louisiana. Remember the 90s when good players left LSU in droves?

Two of those people didn't have offers. Stop trying to rewrite history to justify your hardon for anyone other than LSU.

re: ESPN: "UT has chance to build Louisiana pipeline"

Just FYI for anyone who wants to sweat Texas trying to recruit Louisiana. Out of this years' class there were only 2 LSU signees who were offered by Texas, LaCouture and Herron. LSU got both. Apparently neither was all that interested in Texas or they would have gone there.

A&M offered 7 of the players in this years LSU class losing all 7 to LSU. This includes Jones from LC whose Father played at A&M yet he still came to LSU.

Finally, Bama offered 16 of the players in LSU's class and that includes Beckwith who many Bama fans thought was a Bama lock. The list includes Glmore, Herron, Jennings, LaCouture, Pocic, Desean Smith, Bain, Brazil, Rickey Jefferson, Diarse and others who even the "great Saban" couldn't get away from LSU. There was 1 player who LSU "flipped" from Bama to LSU and that was Andy Dodd, the OL from Georgia.

The truth is that the only kid who pops up on most Louisiana Top 10 lists who LSU didn't get is Noel Ellis and LSU did not offer Ellis who went to A&M.

The point is that if Texas thinks they are the recruiting machine Bama is then keep on dreaming and if LSU can go head to head with Bama and win that many high profile battles then Mack Brown sure as Hell isn't bringing anything new to the table.

Talk on Texas and Texas fans. LOL.

I don't understand the point of this post, we offered players that Texas signed also. Same with A&M, same with Bama.

re: ESPN: "UT has chance to build Louisiana pipeline"

The point is that LSU and Texas are NOT recruiting the same players which is OBVIOUS by my breakdown. I have doubts about the Texas staff even being able to qualify talent they need. It sure isn't working for them now.

There is much more competition for LSU from
A&M for like recruited players and from BAMA. LSU is competing against the likes of Bama, UF, UGA, ND, USC. So basicly who gives a shite what Texas or Texas fans think.

Is that clear enough for you or should I break it down for the riders on the short bus?

Project,I know Lacy didn't,but you make my point. Every kid that leaves Louisiana doesn't have a LSU offer.LsU may have thought they were good enough but could not take them due to scholarship limitations and needs.

Same with Texas,Just because a kid signs with LSU does not mean Texas offered.Recruiting sites publish a lot of crap

You guys can't say Texas not wanting Shep at QB is spin then say LSU would not take Devall and Williams because they did not want them.Devall is very good now!I don't think LSU was upset over losing Williams nor Texas Shep and Loston.
I've coached in La and don't care if Texas loses every game, but they can be like Bama and pluck out players LSU needs.
Miles got Alexander out of Bama because Bama and Auburn backed off due to his hs injury. Arky got Knile Davis past the Texas schools because of his hs injury.
I dont want LSU to lose any recruit they offer.

Stripes, you must be getting your recruiting info from pay sites. Please name the recruits that Bama had to sign because they lost 16 to LSU.Forgive me if I'm not crying for Bama and their fall back guys that resulted in a consensus number one ranking.

We can't say Tim Williams went to Bama beacause LSU didn't want him? Please, tell me why. I'm all ears on this one.

re: ESPN: "UT has chance to build Louisiana pipeline"

Here is some more info regarding LSU and Texas recruiting. Currently Texas has 8 commitments for the class of 2014. LSU has offered 2 of them.

It's more of the same as earlier eluded to in a previous post. There are so many kids out there and a team may have different needs in a given year that many quality kids aren't even being recruited by the same schools at the same time.

If you take LSU, A&M and Texas and consider they all overlap in recruiting areas somewhat, you could let A&M and Texas pick the 1st 50 kids from louisiana and texas combined and LSU STILL would come away with a highly rated class. The number of quality players in this area is just so large that players like Morris Claiborne for example are underrated. Look at Josh Boutte this year. Until he went to a couple of camps and all-star games he was not considered to be the player he is considerd to be at present.

If Texas wants to come in here and burn up a lot of time for potentially getting 1 or 2 kids then go ahead. It isn't like LSU is not recruiting against the top teams in the country already.

re: ESPN: "UT has chance to build Louisiana pipeline"

Bernie, surely you are not as dumb as you sound.

Nowhere did I say that Bama only offered 16 kids did I? Schools offer far more scholarships than they can actually accept. This is why some offers are only good for a short while and may be retracted.

The point of the illustration is that we are offering far more kids that Bama is also offering and vise-versa than we have ever offered against Texas. So this Texas concern is so overblown that it is pointless.

In addition, if LSU is already battling the likes of Bama for most of our roster what makes you so damn worried about Texas? It's just unwaranted and frankly stupid.

Project,LSU did not mind losing him. Texas not wanting Shep or preferring Vacorro over Loston is true yet you guys want to call it spin. Then Bama can and they do claim LSU is spinning when we say LSU did not mind losing Williams.Texas nor LSU were spinning.

Considering we turned him away when he tried to commit before his OV to Bama, I'd say that's obvious.

But you trying to equate what our fans say regarding players leaving the state compared to what how Texas fans react is fricking laughable.

I'm struggling to figure out why you chose the name you did for this site since you obviously are not an LSU fan in any way whatsoever.

Stripes,I'm well aware of the recruiting game. Those 16 offers were not all commitable.Which guys had comitable Bama offers?
Were you recruited out of hs. Do you coach or have friends in coaching? How do you know Bama offered 16 of LSU's signees? Who told you?

LSUtool, isn't it time for band practice?

Project,do you know the starting backfield and home town of each on the '58 NC team.
I don't need to look it up.
Being objective about LSU does not make me less of a fan than you.How many games did you attend in the 90s?
The nineties took years off of my life.
