re: PuttaDaForkDown

I've been trying to just do big salads for lunch. Unfortunately I was too lazy to cook any chicken last night or put any eggs in it so it had no protein or fat. Just vegetables. It's a lot of differnt ones but man it's getting old already. Lunch is like the hardest meal for me to prepare.

No man. You just have to prep. Cooking for a couple hours on a Sunday is generally part of my routine. Cooking is one of my joys. But when we are heading to the folks for Sunday dinner and I have to come home and cook for the week? It can suck. I just ate the remnants of a tri-tip and roasted Brussels sprouts I cooked Sunday morning. Tomorrow is canned mercury thanks to being a half-assed Catholic.

When you think about the money and calories wasted on eating out it just seems stupid.

Hah, I have the same setup (except its two suits, so double the motivation?).

Good to know, I will have to watch how this plays out for me but thanks for the head's up.

I was thinking about this last night as I'm generally the same way (love to cook, half-assed Catholic). Its easy for me to do right now because I don't mind spending time cooking, but whenever I end up back working 14-16 hr days, its going to become a lot more difficult.

Yeah I just need to take sunday nights to prep. I should just light up the grill and get all my meat for every meal cooked ahead if possible.

I think a suit is a good motivation. A well made and good fitting suit can make anybody look good.

I just make my meals simple. I cook a big batch of food every few days and eat on that for a few days if I'm working. If I'm off for a few days I cook in smaller batches. I like to buy family packs of meat (pork chops, sirloin steak, chuck roast, etc etc), cook it all at once, freeze some, put some in the fridge.

If you don't have a meal ready you will fall of the wagon. It's as easy to cook 10 pork chops as 2.

Made three meat loafs Sunday. Froze One, ate 2. burp.
It's easy to smother green beans, limas, okra or cabbage to be put in pint containers for freezing. You'll always have a side.

Eta: Meatloaf song Bat out of Hell reference other day came full circle today. First song in my vehicle after lunch, XMradio Meatloaf: 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

Smoked two chickens last weekend and also threw on some mushrooms and an oxtail that had been lying around. Deboned the chickens and used them for various applications during the week (salad, with eggs, chicken salad, etc) and took the bones and made a stock. Made a "meat stew" last night with the smoked oxtail, chicken necks/livers, smoked mushrooms, a mirepoux, and some andouille. Hard to argue that it wouldn't benefit from some rice but good nonetheless and I have something to ready to eat for a meal for the next week.

Another good day. Going to try fasting today. Tonight is steak night so I figure I'll need the calories to spare. Debating on whether to roast some brussels sprouts or do a baked sweet potato.

Still in first place with 3 weeks to go but I'm ahead by a very small percentage and the guy in 2nd is surging down. He dropped 3 last week.
