| Should the Hornets go after Bynum? (Posted on 3/7/13 at 3:41 am)
Given his injury woes (since his 3rd season in the NBA, assuming he doesn't play this season, he has played in ~55% of his total possible regular season games) and general lack of seriousness off the court, would you take the chance on a fairly hefty deal? I'm not so sure that he gets a max deal, but he will certainly get over $10m/yr. Do you think we should take a chance on him? What's the max that you would offer? Don't forget that he put up 19/12/2 last season at 24 years of age. While it would be a very risky lineup with two douches and two injury proned guys, something like: Vasquez/Rivers EG/Mason Aminu/Porter AD/Ryno/Smiht Bynum/Lopez/Smiht has the potential to be a legit threat in the West immediately if (big IF)EG and Bynum stay healthy, especially if Rivers and Aminu improve a bit). It also has the potential to be an absolute waste of the first 4 years of AD's career. Would you take the chance? Would your opinion change if we were to flip EG for nothing to a team with cap space?

Absolutely not. His injury is worse than Gordon's. The only team that should take a risk on him is a team with a closing window like Dallas.

if you are serious, you are the 2nd person behind myself to mention bynum in nola. i continuously pound him into HT prediction threads! i love this move and believe we will pursue him. not wanting him cause of "attitude" or "head-case'' is lame and stupid. remember all the shite shaq did during games!?!?

Why? He's a prick that doesn't gets along with his teammates, gathers technical fouls (free points to the opponent), and may randomly murder an opponent on the court. Shaq clashed with Kobe, but most people do. Other than that, comparing Shaq to Bynum is laughable.

If he has a clean bill of health, sure. I wouldn't trust our medical staff to diagnose him properly, though. If we start giving a frick about every players attitude will will never sign anyone of note.

Pek. Cut up the 96 minutes between AD,Ryno and Pek. Smith can be the 4th big. Get what you can for Lopez. GV/Rivers EG/Mason Aminu/Porter AD/Ryno/Smith Pek/AD/Ryno/Smith

Sure theres the headcase, immaturity, and terrible attitude side of Bynum I want nowhere near this roster then theres the fact that he has a chronic knee issue with no diagnosis or end in sight... and will cost if not as much, more than Gordon. Lets ask Philly fans how much they enjoy their return for Iggy/Vucevic There will be one GM out there who throws a boatload of money at this dude, and I pray its not Dell Demps

I'm not 100% against this, I wouldn't offer Anything over two years though. I see people saying he's a prick and doesn't get along with his teammates, I don't recall hearing any of that. He can get a little emotional on the court if things aren't going his way. I would put a feeler offer of 2 years, 22-24 million.

This isn't "every players attitude." Bynum is a fricktard of epic levels. That's not the norm for star players. Yes, they're typically type A personalities, but Bynum has shown himself to be unstable and extremely immature. Then, there's that knee.

Just what they need. Another max contract of a player who averages like 50 games a season.

We already have one player with those kind of knees. I don't want another one

Well seeing as he played with Kobe he got first hand experience on how to be a shitty teammate. I would be more worried with his health than an attitude problem considering where he started his career.

Don't want him. He's the Randy Moss of the NBA. Supreme talent, but only plays when he feels like it.

I think it's too big of a risk. The injury situation is the only we reason we would even have a chance to get him, but it's concerning. Apparently, doctors used the word "degenerative". We already have one star big. The move could completely destroy the rebuild, or it could make us contenders. The risk outweighs the reward, imo.
