re: Saint's plan to tender Ivory,

I will ask you kindly sir to never post that gif again!!!

That being said, they are similar type running backs.

And check out the appreciated block by Devery! I bet no hometown athlete has ever blocked like that before!

I think you can tender for any round, but the round you tender them for ends up matching them with a certain amount of salary.

Tenders are only first round, second round, or round drafted, nothing else. There's really no reason for the round drafted with an UDFA except that it gives you a chance to match whatever offers they get, but I don't think we'll do that. We will tender him with the 2nd round option and trade him for whatever we can get (likely a 6th/7th rounder, maybe with a chance to get another one next season if he meets certain performance requirements).

re: Saint's plan to tender Ivory,

I know it's not likely, but I hope a team desperate for a running back (maybe Cincinnati?) will give up better than a 6th or 7th for him.

I'm glad he will get a chance to play more of a role. Just hope we get something of worth for the guy.

re: Saint's plan to tender Ivory,

Nobody is giving up a 2nd round pick for Ivory. I like the idea of tendering him for a 2nd then trading but if no takers then we are screwed with over 2 mill. thats alot of money on a RB position with four others rotating in as well.

re: Saint's plan to tender Ivory,

I wish they would pick a RB...have his back-up on bench for cheap... have Sproles and his back-up on the bench cheap and trade whomever is left.

Tired of the RB merry go round. A 2nd round tender on Ivory puts our money tied up in RB's just over 9 million.
Too much as poor as we are right now.

This is correct. There used to be a 1st/3rd tender, but they got rid of that last year (I think).

To do a 1st round tender, we' have to pay Ivory around $3M. The 2nd round tender is around $2M. I believe the other tender (original draft pick compensation) is around $1M. None of those numbers are exact, but I think they are close enough.

Just because it seems like it should be said, there is a 0% chance a team coughs up a 2nd round pick for Ivory.

re: Saint's plan to tender Ivory,

I agree with nobody giving up a second round pick. However, I never understood that logic. Odds are Ivory will be a bigger contributor on a team in which he is the started than 90% of the second round picks over the next couple of years. I have always felt NFL teams overvalue draft picks in simple trades such as an established player who is a known entity versus a draft pick that has a good chance not to pan out as well as the player being traded.

You are correct. I am thinking of another situation and cant put my finger on it. I will find it.

We can't put a third round tender on him.

We can either put a "no compensation" tender (because of his udfa status), or a first or second round tender, or sign him to a long-term deal.

I agree. As good as Ivory can be when healthy, he doesn't stay healthy for very long when he's used much.....or that's been his history so far.

Everyone has been saying this but it is not true. He has had one injury in his career. It was a foot injury that kept him out towards the end of 2010 and out of the playoffs.

He missed 2 or 3 games last year....and he didn't have a carry until the 7th game. 3 years in the league and he's carried the ball in 24 regular season games.

re: Saint's plan to tender Ivory,

in 2010, he was active for 12 games, got hurt and missed the rest of the year.

Started 2011 on PUP and played the next 6 games only to get hurt before the playoffs.

Sat out 8 weeks in 2012, played 5, got hurt then had 4 carries against Carolina before exiting again.

Yeah, its not true.

re: Saint's plan to tender Ivory,

At this point which would you rather have? Ivory or keep cadet?
I know ivory would be the more expensive choice and he's injury prone and all that but with that aside, I love the upside ivory brings to our team.
