Now that Obama has pissed off a nice size part of his base that base will begin to fracture and as a result that fractured base (especially the press) might critically challenge him a bit.

My interpretation is that the state department admittedly has no viable reason to NOT approve the pipeline crossing. The purpose of this friday press release appears to be an attempt to temper the Obama environmental base's reaction.

I told you the P/L was a done deal...and your last toss in is stupid shite as usual...and none of you clowns understand the significance of this line...it does nothing significant for the US energy supply. The primary reason the industry is pushing for it is pricing in Cushing v pricing at the gulf (Brent). These are legit interests and there never was a legit reason to block the line, but the bull shite about energy independence and gas prices is not a factor.

Avg national price/gallon today was $3.77....but the real point is gas prices were not a factor and the P/L will not change pricing...there isn't an oil or gas shortage.

Not exactly. Nebraska asked for a delay to work on alternative route that would minimize impacts to Platt River. Environmental groups not so much concerned about the pipeline per se but how it will facilitate development of oil sands...an especially damaging and "dirty" source of energy.
