You apparently have no idea what it's like to be poor.
In modern day America, it really isn't that bad. Not many people here are dying like the thousands in Africa or the Middle East or India because of lack of food, water, or basic medical care.
In highschool, I had a friend. His dad was a cop. He went to private school with me. But that was provided to him by his parents. He was a pothead. He always managed to scrape together money for weed or someone gave him money for stuff. He regularly ate mcdonalds and subway. But now after we have graduated, he has done nothing. He works cleaning carpets and makes 9 dollars an hour. Has a cheap cheap rental house due to his mom formerly having it as an agent. It really is not a very nice house.
But he is probably happy. Last I heard, he still smokes a ton of pot and has a lot of parties. He will most likely always be like this. Scraping by and what not. He will be poor mostly, and the only reason he has a decent car is because his grandma isnt able to drive anymore so he got hers. He is happy as far as I could always tell.
Sure, he is not mooching off the gov right now as far as I know. I do know for a while his furniture was stuff he found on the side of the road, and he had stolen cable. It makes me sad. It really does. He could have at least tried BRCC (edit: community college). His dad struggled to send him and his siblings to school and support them. He shite all over that. It is pathetic and is just one example of the thought process of many of the poor and lower class people.
