| So, Predict The Next Crisis (Posted on 3/1/13 at 3:23 pm)
We have had two fiscal cliffs and now a sequestration...if the sun rises tomorrow after limiting how much money can be spent over and above the previous year's spending, what will the government use to manipulate public opinion in the near future?

I dunno. About all I can tell you with any degree of certainty at this point is that if my balls itch I am likely to scratch them. Other than that, I got nothing.

Debt Ceiling is on the menu I believe The Republicans should be crafting Tax Reform legislation and pushing the narrative of how it's the best way to close income inequality in America. They need to start playing offense because they have been getting clobbered since the election by Democrats. I would try and tie it together with a big bargain on the national debt and entitlement reform over the next 10 years. There is a deal to be made, but Obama is helping create an atmosphere blame and mistrust. In other words, Obama needs to stop playing games and start leading. Until then the Republicans should do Tax Reform and pass it in the House.

With only one carrier group in the Persian Gulf, I see Iran blocking off the Strait of Hormuz causing a massive oil crisis.

Do you think it couldn't happen? It's not like Obama would do anything about it if they did.

if it did it wouldn't last long, air power alone would take it out.

i dont even like the guy but thats good stuff, if hes gona drone strick people in allied countries stopping Iran would be nothing. But you might be forgetting the joint operations base right in Iran's back yard preventing this in the first place.

I wouldn't be surprised to see another major terrorist attack against the U.S. in the future. It has been awfully quiet for quite some time. If you stop and truly ponder it, 9-11-01 is the largest factor that got us to where we are today as a whole. Al-Qaeda beat us in the pocket book and it looks like we will never recover fiscally.

It's not just because of Al-Qaeda. We can't control our own fricking spending.

Agree, but 9-11 pushed the snowball off of the cliff. Cutting 80 billion dollars out of a budget is a drop in the bucket in relation to where we are today. How many countries in the world has a GDP in excess of 80 billion dollars?

Right But you could argue that a lot of the spending was from 911 Afghanistan - obviously because of 911 Iraq - Perhaps doesn't happen without 911 Expansion of agencies and development of agencies in the name of homeland security had to come at a significant cost as well

Turns out, a lot, actually: World GDP Rankings: 2012 The ideal crisis for the administration would be gun wielding southerners blaming government spending on subsidized gay marriages.

Very doubtful that would ever happen, Iran has a bunch of outdated junk for a Navy. Our USN is by far the most superior force in the world, if Iran was stupid enough to go up against our Navy, it would be like shooting fish in a barrel. They would be wiped out in a matter of days. But that being said, I doubt our pathetic sad-sack of a CINC would do what is necessary to get things right. But such an attack would cause the oil markets to sky-rocket, sending crude up to close $200/bl. An attack would shut down the Strait for a while but the West would move in quickly to secure that region to get the flow of oil back to normal. Now to the original question of the OP. The next crisis will probably be the student loan bubble. We have kids graduating with useless degrees owing tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars. The only jobs a lot of these kids can find is mixing paint at Home Depot or selling cars on some lemon lot.
