| The Next Great Schism (Posted on 3/1/13 at 3:18 pm)
So now that the pope has quit and retired to Castel Gandolfo, he will apparently still be going by Benedict and His Holiness. He also said he "won't abandon the church." This just seems like a difficult situation for any pope (or any new leader of any organization) to be coming into. I know the pope said he would also be loyal to the new pope, but it still seems like his life might not be quite as quiet as he originally suggested. The whole thing just seems like Benedict wants to keep all the titles (and can the new pope even stay in the Castle Gandolfo during summers or will Benedict be living there till he croaks?) without having to deal with all the BS

No matter how hard we try, man always can mess some stuff up. Must constantly be on guard against pride and the enemy.
No matter how hard we try, man always can mess some stuff up. Must constantly be on guard against pride and the enemy.
The CC is like our Congress...got a bunch of systematic hangers on who have a ton of baggage. And who don't want to go as it would be a sort of admission of guilt. They all want to do the best to make up for lessons learned the hard way; but if all the long termers in Congress would resign like the Pope...that would go a long way toward fixing this mess. And any Cardinal that was in on the systematic coverup.

You don't know your church history too well if you think this is a recipe for a Schism...

Benedict's moving back into the Vatican once a converted monastery is finished being renovated.

I think he's probably going to be more concerned with writing books. We probably won't be seeing B16 too much from this point forward.

Benedict will spend the rest of his life in the monastery in the vatican, I think Castle Gondolfo is kidna like a vacation house for a couple of weeks for him. But he will be in a monastery praying reading and writing.

How humble and contrite of him. Why doesn't he get out, see the world, visit family, and live the life of an imperfect, sinful human being?
