Quit trying to pretend you are as good as normal people. You're not. You live off of funds forcefully extorted from normal people and whine and cry about when they make the slightest protest.

True.

2)While the private sector has seen unemployment rise, they have continued hiring in the government.

Maybe it's because the private sector isn't hiring? When the private sector isn't hiring there really is only one other place to go. That's why I'm in the military now. There is NOTHING out there.

quote:

Too bad they have increased the number of government employees....wanna know how many people who lost a job would have loved to have their pay FROZEN?

A lot of those people who lost their job in the private sector went into the public sector.

Sorry, but I'd have to say that ANY Federal employee who makes more in a month than I'll see in a lifetime is pretty definitely overpaid.

BECAUSE THEY DONT HAVE THE MONEY.

So your solution is to isntead:

1) have the government confiscate MORE money from them.

2) then use that money to pay people higher salaries with better benefits than the private sector?

Are you retarded?

I must be because I have no idea how you came to the conclusion that I am advocating for any of the above simply because my father works for the government.

What argument would I be having with the universe? If you can point out where I said that government jobs should be deemed sacrosanct even in times of economic hardship, or where I said I disagree with the downsizing of the government in general, I'll concede your point.

All I wrote was that the implication that they have no place to be concerned because the private sector has suffered as well is silly. They, for the most part, aren't viewing this in some macro/general sense. They're thinking about their own bottom line. No reason to hate, gloat, mock, whatever.

And say what you will, there is a right and a wrong way to do everything. Furloughing these guys because the president and the congress can't quick dicking around with one another isn't the way to do it.

I was dealing in hyperbole. My father makes six figures but he's not rich. He makes enough where mom and my sister don't want for anything though. Apparently that's a bad thing because he doesn't work in the private sector.

I sincerely hope that no ill will is bestowed upon those federal employees effected by the impending decline of federal spending. With that, I hope we continue to cut (below sequestor levels) and I believe that the long term benefits are the right measures going forward. I believe the brimstone and fire analogies are bull shite and will have little affect on our daily lives. Cuts a plenty can be made that would have little effect on the health of the economy.

Another boy talking about his Ddady, who flys into self-pitying histrionics on internet message boards because life ain't fair. Another day, another sadsack. Well cry me a fricking river. I'm not sure if you are a bitch arse punk or a punk arse bitch so let me address you thusly:

Here is what I suggest, son. Admit to yourself that our POLITICAL OVERLORDS have failed us. Then admit to yourself that WE frickING DESERVE IT. Then admit to yourself that a FEDERAL JOB OFFERS NO IMMUNITY FROM THE LAWS OF THE UNIVERSE. Then pull up your frickING BIG BOY PANTS AND MAN THE frick UP, before your water breaks all over my god damn floor.

All I have to say is, where's my dang furlough!

I expected to get to work this morning and all the lights would be off and no one around. Everyone is walking around like nothing happened.

What gives?!?

I think the general message to the gov't employees who are bitching about being downsized or having their salaries cut is simply this: Hey...welcome to the realities those of us working in the private sector have always faced.

But then I explained why that insult was warranted. You merely hurl insults.

The fact is, tax day and first estimate day are coming up soon. On that day when I write checks for many thousands of dollars, on the other three days in the year every year when I do again, I do not have one ounce of sympathy whatsoever for any federal employee. I see them as a direct obstacle to my future financial stability; as a direct impediment to my ability to purchase things I might want or need; and as a direct theft of the proceeds of my labor.

Maybe I'm misreading something, but how does this not strike you guys as condescending? Someone accused me of building strawmen for suggesting that your comments (and tone) were demeaning.

1. Many, many federal employees have private sector experience. They aren't children attached to momma's tit. They understand how things work.

2. When was it established as gospel that organizations in the private sector were somehow free of dead weight. Because let me tell you, they aren't--even during a recession. There's also nothing, in my experience, to suggest that people in the private sector work harder, work longer, have a better grasp of the economy, or are held to more stringent professional standards than federal civil servants.

In fact, I'd bet that you could count on your two hands the jobs/industries that have higher standards and/or require more and better qualifications than the civil service.

To call many of them workers is a joke.

Some yes some no. Love the blanket statements though.

Where does the money come from? If those private organizations are wasting their own money, so be it. It belongs to them. If they are wasting the money of their clients, it is between them and their clients. Now, where does the government get its money?

If you can't see the distinction, then that is a morality problem, not an intellectual one.
