and his overall speed and coverage ability limits him as a 4-3 OLB.

They're referencing this to him as a 34 olb, not a 43.

no they are not. read again. I even highlighted where they state he is ideal as a 3-4 OLB or situational 4-3 DE. The weakness section explains why he isn't suited as an every down 4-3 DE or a 4-3 OLB. When they state he is a "True tweener prospect" and then follow up with a "due to (insert negative here)," they are stating why he doesn't fit a position other than the "tweener" one (which is the 3-4 OLB) and that his negatives project to any position other than that.

School is out

People need to separate speed from off the edge speed. Galette has off the edge speed and burst as good as any.

well he's much faster than harrison, who's been an outside linebacking beast in the 3-4.

Is he as fast as some other elite 3-4 outside linebackers? Not quite, but he is in teh same range of speed (4.6-4.8). He isn't going to be doing that much covering as a 3-4 OLB

He's thicker than Aldon Smith and just as fast

At no point was any mention made of Galette playing as a 43 olb.

You're confusing them praising his short area burst with speed. You really don't comprehend very well.

Do James Harrison, Aldon Smith, and Terrell Suggs lack the speed to play 3-4 OLB?

You can't misread an entire article (in this case draft report) and then tell others that they don't comprehend very well. That's just retarded. You've been proven wrong in your "comprehension" of said report by others as well. You're like that dork in high school calling all the jocks nerds. You have your labels all mixed up, yo!

You first. Tell me exactly what this has to do with what I'm talking about with that other guy. I'm not arguing with him about Galette's speed.

well we are talking about how Junior translate to the 3-4. You misread an article and are apparently arguing about nothing.

So you tell me, what is the point of your posts? That because he hasn't played a 3-4 in the NFL he can't translate over? His interest coming out of college means absolutely nothing in this discussion. Several players that have had minimal interest have turned into every down players or even super stars.

If they were talking about his speed as a 3-4 linebacker, they would have used the term situational like they did a few words latter when referencing the 4-3 DE. The 3-4 OLB has always been a tweener position. His skills fit that of other 3-4 OLB's in the NFL (some of the best)

All right dimwit. Here's the entire report. Point out where they're discussing him as a 43 olb.

quote:

OVERVIEW
Galette was a productive four-year starter at linebacker and defensive end in college. He transferred from Temple in 2009 to join the Stillman team, and there have been concerns about his character which likely will hinder his overall draft status. Galette is a versatile athlete who could play stand-up outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme or contribute as a sub-package pass rusher in an even front. Galette is a very good athlete who plays with natural instincts and reactions. He doesn't have great hips or lateral burst, which will cause him to be a liability in man coverage, but he could develop into an adequate zone defender. He lacks strength at the point defending the run or collapsing the pocket as a pass rusher and can get overpowered by offensive tackles. He is an explosive edge rusher who has value on special teams and nickel packages but concerns about past injuries and off-field issues will need to be investigated.

STRENGTHS
Galette possesses the explosive burst off the edge you look for in a 3-4 outside linebacker or situational rush end in a 4-3. He exhibits impressive instincts and was highly-productive during his time in college. Is a high-motor, high-effort guy who plays through the whistle. He has the athleticism to make plays in the backfield.
WEAKNESSES
He is a true 'tweener prospect due to lack of adequate size to be a defensive end or speed at the outside linebacker spot. May not have the strength to effectively defend the run when teams run at him or hold up at the point of attack. Will struggle in man coverage. Has an injury history and character concerns that will cause him to drop.

what does bolding outside linebacker disprove? I know they talk about him playing that position, it has been quoted several times

quote:

Galette possesses the explosive burst off the edge you look for in a 3-4 outside linebacker or situational rush end in a 4-3.

you see how they situational for the 4-3 but not the 3-4...

re: Junior Galette "low-balled" by Saints?

quote:

who said anything about overpaying him? there is now a 4 going on 5 page thread because he said he was lowballed. 1. there's no clear indication that he was even referring to contract negotiations with the Saints (and he stated later that it wasn't the case), 2. even if it was, that does not mean he is asking for more than his market value, 3. this is all part of a negotiating process, and 4. now fans here are acting as if the guy is no good based off of one tweet saying he was lowballed.

Let's cut the the subjective BS. Neither of us know what was actually offered.

How much do you think the Saints should the Saints offer for Galette? Your answer to this will help you understand why there is a gap between your opinion and others in this thread.
