I'm rich and I hoard wealth

Not because I'm greedy, but because I have very little faith in the future of our economy. Another reason is uncertainty over future income. Most of my income comes from medical related businesses. We are under a constant bombardment of threats of lower pay, more regulation, and higher overhead related to all these new gov't requirement we must meet.

That's why the rich have amassed so much wealth during this recovery and not created jobs. We fear losing what we have gained and are pessimistic about our economic futures. Wealth does not trickle down when to gov't is constantly threatening to take that wealth. I would love to expand a couple of my businesses, but the risk far outpaces the potential return.

You're greedy and selfish and unpatriotic. How dare you not pay your fair share? You didn't build that. And why do you want less regulation and more pay? So you can screw patients by overcharging them and endanger public safety by cutting corners?

I bet you have a real nice house, car, and TV that you don't really need, all stolen off the backs of the poor. You should be in the medical business to help people, not profit from their misfortune.

I agree with you. The only problem is inflation will eventually make your accumulated wealth worthless unless it is in Gold.

Hopefully he is investing his accumulated wealth

And the dollar isn't as weak as some people like to say

I am, but not in the ways I would like to. I like starting new businesses and creating jobs for our town. I love the challenge, but I'm not a gambler. It's hard to plan a business when the rules constantly change. I'm quite comfortable where I'm at in life and see no reason to risk my security. They have taken my incentives away.

Do you have it stuffed under your mattress? Because if you have it in savings, you aren't "hoarding" it.

In your specific industry this is certainly applicable.

I don't fault you at all.

You didn't build that wealth. Clearly you are a leech on the downtrodden of our society.

Smart and responsible strategy.

But I reckon you realize that you are choosing a SELFISH principle over that of the collective good (prinicple). In that your hoarding - in effect - deprives less fortunate and dependent individuals of life's basics.

So...bottom line... . You had best be out of the system and off the government (populist) radar, or they are going to FORCE you into sharing that wealth. Lawfully, of course. Taxes and closing loopholes.

Bend over!

There are things you can buy that are investments and not "savings" that do not make it back into the economy. Land, gold, silver etc. In the past, I set aside money every year for new business ventures or to expand current ones. That stopped during the Obama yrs. Not all was is fault. He certainly did not cause the economic collapse, but he did not handle the aftermath in a way conducive to economic growth and investment. Many, like me, have simply been in a holding pattern for years.

The uncertainty over taxes, spending, O'care etc, has killed our recovery and now we sit on the verge of another recession. Trillions of dollars are sitting on the sidelines just waiting to come back into the system.

I sense your sarcasm, but to those that believe this...My frugality ensures that my current employees will keep their jobs, benefits, and can have a little more security in their lives.

Like I said in my thread. Help you and yours. YOU choose who to help and be CONSPICUOUS about it. I think is what all people with the ability to help should do.

Frankly, I'm half tempted the next time some panhandler hits me up to ask em if they support X,Y or Z policy. If "yes", then move along and enjoy your poverty asswipe.

I'm missing something then. If you are purchasing "land, gold, and silver" you aren't hoarding the money still.

Yes you are. Look at the OP. I said I was hoarding wealth. Not money. And the things I'm am purchasing for the most part add nothing to the economy, but they give me a hedge against inflation and economic collapse. I'm still in the market, but I have been much more defensive in my investments over the last few years.

This also gives me the ability to attack when the market is down, but then it rebounds and I lock in my profits to invest in more commodities. I have generated an enormous amount of personal wealth over the last four yrs without contributing virtually anything to the net economy. This is good for me, but bad for the country.

You have two options with money; To spend or save (Throwing away the mattress or burn it or use it as toilet paper options). When you purchase gold, silver, or land, your money changes hands and the seller of the gold, land, or silver can then either consume goods or save his newly acquired money.

What you are claiming is an impossibility. You haven't kept your money out at all.
