re: Is Davis a disappointment?

His stats are about what I thought he'd do, I figured his offensive game would be a development. He is already a very talented player, but as many have said, just needs to grow into his figure. He will be a big time player; and we are lucky to have him.

re: Is Davis a disappointment?

I think some people are a little disappointed by AD because of the way Lillard has been playing. He's averaging 18 and 6 in his rookie year, which are great numbers, so people outside of the hornets organization have started to forget about AD. But when you look into their numbers, Lillard shoots only about 41% and takes over 15 shots a game; his PER is 16. AD's PER of 20.5 is uncanny for a rookie, but his numbers don't pop out because he only gets about 27 minutes per game, compared to Lillard's 38. Not to mention, AD is only two years removed from high school while Lillard is five years removed. Once you start seeing AD getting accustomed to the NBA game and getting over 35 MPG, then you will see him as a top 3 PF in this league.

He's by no means a bust but I did expect much more from him this year. Too inconsistent. Hyped as a once in a generation player. You expect Lebron/Duncan/Shaq rookie results with those expectations.

re: Is Davis a disappointment?

It does make it difficult when your two best players (Anderson and Davis) basically play the same position and can't really play together. I was hoping one could play Center at times, or even SF, so that they can play together but it hasn't worked that well. I really don't see an answer, other than Davis getting alot bigger/physical or Anderson getting alot quicker..

:sigh:

good rebounding? check
elite shot blocking? check
good defense overall? check
spectacular, inconsistent scoring? check

davis plays under 30mpg so his raw numbers are not there. but if you look deeper, per 36 and % are all very good. given enough minutes he is 16/10 with 2 blocks, a steal, and high FG% and FT% every single night. You expect more than that?

Duncan played 4 years in college and Shaq played 3. Seriously, you can't be this dumb.

I saw his posts on the money talk and he is currently unemployed. It makes sense.

A disappointment is Greg "dick pic" Oden.

only because of injury, Oden was a pretty good player on the court.

to the OP, Davis hasn't been a disappointment, but has some have there is some room for improvement.

He has regressed. He started out great but this month he had a 5 game stretch where he averaged 6 points and even put up a squadoosh.

Once in a generation is once in a generation. It doesn't matter the age. Talent transcends. If Duncan came out at 19, he'd have dominated still. If you base it soley on age, what about 19 year old Durant? He is just as much a string bean. I'm not saying he won't become HOF I'm just saying I expected more. Monty shares just as much blame as Davis.
