| Empty threats from select schools to leave LHSAA (Posted on 2/21/13 at 2:43 pm)
All this talk about selects leaving LHSAA and forming their own association is pure bull. There are about 80 select schools. Not all selects would choose to leave the LHSAA, so how many would actually leave? And where would they go? Most high school football fans would not care if selects left. The talk about selects providing the bulk of LHSAA revenue is not true in my opinion but if you have figures to prove otherwise then provide them. My guess is that fewer than half of selects would choose to leave. I live in North Louisiana and from my knowledge of this area any select that left LHSAA would have a VERY hard time filling out a 10 game schedule. The logistics of travel, time missed from school and finding quality opponents would be overwhelming. Considering the margin of vote for the split I think it will not be rescinded in the forseeable future. The biggest objection to select schools is not about recruiting but about the way they are able to get their players and the area they are able to get them from. A good example is providing scholerships. This is a good thing if a select student is provided a scholership because they have academic qualifications. But information about scholerships is a closely guarded secret with selects so essentially they operate under their own rules. Would somebody tell us how many John Curtis football players on their 2012 championship team were on scholership? Nobody knows? That's my point. The split will stay. An adjustment should be made in the divisions of selects in the playoffs but how do you divide up 80 schools into fair divisions? Selects won't split because not enough of them will agree to do it. So let the "Biggies" go their own way if they think they have have enough appeal to go national or even regional. This will be the end of them. Good riddance. I am from Winnfield. It was hard to see one of the best teams in Winnfield's football history get beat by one of the best teams that money could buy - yes, John Curtis - in 2011. And for those that count heads Winnfield had about 4 times as many fans there as John Curtis. YEAH, SOUR GRAPES. Have a great day!

You could have put this shitty post in the other thread. You didn't need to start a new one.

No trophy but that shoots down the argument that selects outdraw non-selects.

What are these "scholerships" you keep referring to?

No, it just proves that one non-select school out draws one select school. Nothing less, nothing more.

One public school outdrawing a select school means that the argument is dead? I guess we can ignore those New Orleans HS games where the Catholic League has a full house and the public schools have 5 fans, then.
