Late to the party on this one, but better late than never. I'm looking for suggestions on personal finance / budgeting software to track family spending habits. Those of you who use this type of thing, which one of the existing (Mint, Quicken, etc.) modules works for you? Or am I better off creating one via Excel spreadsheets (and does anyone have a template they use)?

I use excel and I have created my own spreadsheet to track all of my income/expenses. The layout occasionally changes if I want to introduce a new category, or manage it better for data analysis. It doesn't have all the fancy tools packed in with it, but I do have full control over the data and how I want to analyze it. Very time consuming due to lack of automation, although I don't have an issue with it. As long as I have receipts or record how much cash spendings I have incurred in a day or so on my phone/notepad, I have no problem keeping my spreadsheet very accurate.
