| Robin Lopez's team role? (Posted on 2/20/13 at 9:26 pm)
I was actually a big fan of getting him. I thought that having a big guy to plug the lane along with A Davis would be a real good fit, but somehow he has only managed 5.5 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game as a 7 foot C. What do you guys think the team expects to get out of him and should we be expecting a whole lot more from him in the rebound category?

He's been an awful rebounder. Vasquez averages 1 rebound less than him. Pitiful.

I hear ya. I feel like if I were 7 foot and just stood in the lane, I could pull down 5 rebounds without trying. Just doesn't seem right. Big waste of space in my opinion.

5.5 rebounds
He's never been a great rebounder. Not a big deal with AD/Aminu next to him.

1.7 blocks per game
That's good for 13th in the NBA, with all but 3 guys ahead of him playing more minutes per game, some much more. He has a clear cut/valuable role: start games/2nd halves next to AD, and let AD/Ryno play in crunch time. I don't know what you were expecting from him, he's met/exceed pretty much everyone's expectations.

Lopez and Vasquez are not this team's problems. Other than the fact that this was a rebuilding year and we're banking on a good draft pick this year, reinforcements in free agency, and improvement from Davis and Rivers, our two biggest problems by far is an injury prone best player and crappy coaching

I'm not saying he's the problem, just find it odd that a 7 foot guy can't avg more than 5 rebounds.

It's in their genes, Brook can't rebound worth a shite either. I think they just played "miss a shot and it's the other ones ball" growing up

I think your off with this one. Between a starting 3, 4 & 7ft 5 you should at least get 45pts & 20-25rbs. there's no go to offense between this trio. So one of them has to up his production.

for a 7 footer he can't rebound for jack squat. makes players like rondo look even better.

1.7 blocks a game in under 26 minutes? What do you want?

this is true but there should be a % per chance. sounds retarded but when there's a very high rate of scoring on a 7ft center......

Lopez is not a star, but he's actually exceeded most people's expectations. He'll end up being an excellent bench guy, and that is in no way an insult.
