re: JaMarcus Russell's Comeback Ep. 2

Considering he hasn't stepped on a football field in a while, I think he showed great promise on some throws. He threw a little high, but he was winded.

If he can get in football shape, he will be much more impressive on the pro day.

The issue with Jamarcus has never been talent. It's whether he is willing to study tape EVERY WEEK, and wake up EARLY EVERY DAY.

Best of luck to him.

Geaux Tigers.

I'm really pulling for him.

I'm glad they're filming this and giving him exposure. You need exposure more than anything.

Well, he is 27. Wheeden got drafted at 28, so I don't the age is necessarily a negative factor.

JaMarcus is so physically talented. I hope he continues to work and gets a chance. He was one of the best we ever had.

EDIT: Not a bad video at all. He looks like he just has a huge gut from too many potato chips and soft drinks/beers, but other than that looks okay. I don't think he will be able to get in NFL shape for this summer though. He looks like he's about a year off from being in great shape if he wants to do it. I absolutely think he could be a really good NFL QB in 2014, but I just don't think he has enough time to work off that gut this spring. I'm hoping he sticks with it.

Right...it's almost frustrating to see him try and get this done at this late date rather than having started at least at the first of the year or before.

But yeah, good luck to him.

He ran a 4.7 at the nfl combine. It is hard as frick to lose half a second in only 40 yards. I have no idea, weight or not, how he can be that much slower. Many guys training for the combine pay thousands of dollars to drop 40 times a tenth of a second and yet there goal is over .4 tenths. I still hope he succeeds.

re: JaMarcus Russell's Comeback Ep. 2

First off, God Bless the USA and LSU! I am an Air Force Vet and went to LSU my first 2 years of college before transferring to NC State. I will always be a Tiger at heart!

As for JaMarcus, I sincerely hopes he makes it in his comeback. A lot of people would write him off since his 1st round first pick selection bust. He was not mature enough to handle the money and fame and he should have ASKED for proper guidance. LSU should have given him that (if they didn't) since any of our players reflect on our football program.

I hope he shows the CONTINUED work ethic to show he earned his 1st pick. If he doesn't make it in 2013, I hope he has the perserverence and fortitude to keep trying. After 2014, his chances are even slimmer IMHO.

That said, I hope the kid and now a man has not blown through all this guaranteed $30 mil and saves enough to live a comfortable life. I know I would be if I were in his position.

Also, academics are rarely important to elite athletes but I hope he will at least finish a degree at LSU. In the end, I think he at least owes some work to help the LSU football program.

The most talented QB we have ever had and I wish him the best. I'll never understand the people who hated him at LSU yet chanted "one more year" after the Sugar Bowl. He can't be worse than half the league backups. He just wasn't worth all that money for someone to let him sit. If he had gone to a team to learn a few years he could be a starter today somewhere. Oakland and their shitty coach ruined him by allowing him to become lazy and not giving him anyone to work with.
One of the most delusional posts I've ever seen on this board and that's saying a lot. Nobody to blame for his failure than himself. Totally himself. JR doesn't have the MENTAL discipline to ever play in the NFL as a starting QB, most likely not as a backup either. All the cheerleading in the world will not make it so.

I agree with you, but I think Oakland gave him too much money to sit the bench. I think he needded to go to a team as a back up to learn, as did Aaron Rogers. But they would have needed to stay on his arse big time, because back then he was a bit lazy. I wish him the best of luck, hope he can get in shape, stay focused , and make it somewhere.

Even with the gut, are you gonna tell me that he's worse than John Skelton or fricking Mark Sanchez? Hell, Matt Cassell is god awful.

I'm not saying I would want him as a starter, but he's a perfect #2 guy, especially to a team who likes to throw deep like the Ravens or Broncos. He's got to be better than Brady quinn and quinn's still on a team. frick, even colt mccoy is on a team.

The thing is, it seems like the NFL gives up on players who don't make it in their first 2-3 years.

Who was more physically talented?

The only one who comes close to his arm is Bert Jones.
