re: LSU Lady Tigers 63, MSU 41 Final!

Time will tell on all this..but

All pro NC comments I respect above, well thought out, I just feel differently, but IMO my "evidence" is also valid, it is all in how you view things and in the end. But want to give "the other side" on a few issues raised above, not facts just opinions (as is 99% of above)

The assisstant at the bar arrest is 100% embarrasing and to date NC appears to have taken NO action, Know it is a private matter but he is in LSU's public eye and heard (not fact, but trust who told me) that he was thrwon out of bar partially for bothering girls obnoxioulsy there...if true NOT a good trait for a coach and he should be toast. Yes, I am sure I have done same in my youth, but I am not a rep for LSU in the public (thank goodness I am sure, from LSU's view..lol)

The fact 2 of our 4 coaches had babies as single moms in a 4 month period is of course thier business and I wish them/their kids well. However, I am of the opinion that while family is MUCH more importnat than works thier choices hurt our team from a recuruiting perspective and the fact the babies travel to away games and are at times at pracitce..it's a distraction. Not embaraaasing to me, but not a positive for the program

The on court record is our worst in 14 years. Whether one wants to accept this as "ok" or not, fine. I do not, but if they make NCAA's and win a single game in Trny I will be glad to say she did a "good job this year." Anthing less and I say a poor job. More, a great job.

I 100% supprt NC to get at least two more years here, almost no matter what. To date I think she has been average at best on the court, but OF COURSE I hope she wins big from now on and becomes a great coach for us..so far, I have grown skeptical about this.

The "arrogance" thing is a perception, again time will tell, and I do not know her personally, I may be wrong, but unless someone knows her well and wants to comment, we are all just speculating here.

Finally, I have heard same about her not reaching out to the past players etc. Agaain, IF this is true she has ever right to run things the way she sees fit, but I am going to still have my opinions on this.
Thanks and

Recruiting is not a problem. We do need to let NC bring in HER players. Her first class of HER players are Ballard, Young blood, and Baker. Ballard is likely to be sec freshman of the year. She is one of the best players in the country. She had issues getting in trouble in hs but has been very mature here, staying out of trouble. Young blood contributes a lot in the paint, she rebounds well and can see a huge improvement over the season. I don 't know what to say about baker, she just can't stay out of trouble. She is VERY talented. She would be a major threat to other teams if she stays out of trouble. Next year we bring in a monster class and we have a pretty good chance of bringing home a sec title. I do not understand the arrogance at all. I personally like her, she is not disrespectful in any way.

Yet you keep bringing it up for some reason.

Pat Summit did it. Brenda Frese did it. I'm not even a women's liber but you continuing to argue that she can't have a child and do her job is bull shite. Her mom and Huggie Bear Jr were at the game yesterday with her kid, it's not like she's breastfeeding on the sidelines during games.

secman12, I have no problem with you or any of us having an opinion. But here's where I'm coming from.......

1. The assistant coach debacle......sure, it's embarrassing. But, I think you're making much more about it than its worth and, just because he appears to have not suffered any consequences doesn't mean that he actually hasn't. It's been handled internally and I don't think we need to be concerned with it UNLESS it becomes a pattern.

2. The fact that two coaches have had babies out of wedlock probably has had ZERO effect on our recruiting. I'm not sure why you would think otherwise? I think the fact that the babies travel to away games has zero effect on the teams performance.

3. You keep repeating this whole "this is our worst record in 14 seasons" mantra over and over. However, the season IS NOT OVER YET. Surely, you haven't forgotten Van's last season already? THAT, in my opinion, is the worst season we've had in 14 seasons. This is a team with three new starters, 9 total players, and 2 freshmen getting significant playing time. That team two seasons ago was made up of mostly juniors who had all had significant minutes in their three seasons. At this point two seasons ago the team was 16-9 (6-5 SEC). This team is 15-10 (6-6). Are you telling me that you are much more concerned now than you were then, when Van had a veteran team? That team finished the season losing 4 of their next 6 games...........and THEN to add insult to injury, Van had the nerve to turn down a WNIT invite! THOSE factors got him fired and was, IMHO, the "worst record this program has had in 14 seasons". Now, if this team goes on to lose 4 of its next 6 games, I'll agree with you. But I seriously doubt that will happen. This year's team started off slow but, is starting to gain momentum. That team two seasons ago, started off well and ran out of gas at the end. That's basically why they didn't get an NCAA invite. They finished HORRIBLY that season. WAIT TILL THE SEASON IS OVER before you jump to conclusions on how successful the season is. I for one am enjoying the improvement in the team I've seen over the past month.

4. I'm still not understanding why anyone would think that Nikki is "average", unless they're completely disregarding what she did with a team that had missed the NCAA tournament the season before she got here. She led THAT team to a 24-11 record and a birth in the SEC tournament championship game. So, I guess if you're only looking at THIS SEASON, then you'd think she's average. But, that's a very short-sighted way to evaluate anybody.

It's embarrassing for him, but in the big picture I doubt 5% of people who follow LSU athletics could even tell you who he Tony Perroti is, let alone tell you he got arrested for shite talking to a cop.

re: LSU Lady Tigers 63, MSU 41 Final!

Just mincing opinions here, but this year we are 5-9 vs. top 100 teams, current rpi is 56 and last year (a very good year IMO), we 9-9 vs top 100, Van's last non NIT year (and his and programs worst since 1999) we were 7-11 vs top 100 and ended RPI of 52. So one very good year and then this year is equal an overall poor to weak. But AGAIN if we end strong, I feel much better, if we end with no NCAA's and losing record in SEC IMO it is very poor year. As for Tony P, sainsfan, I agree very few fans know the story, BUT what % of recruits we are after know it? 100% I am sure, because no other team is not using this and how many of our current players know it- again 100%.
As far as NC acting on TP I am willing to see if he is still on the staff next year and if not fine, if so, I will really wonder why.

re: LSU Lady Tigers 63, MSU 41 Final!

You've basically proven what I said previously............ there's no real difference, EXCEPT for last season's team was the best we've had in probably four years. But, one difference I DO see between this team and the team we had two seasons ago, regardless of a slight difference in RPI, is that THIS team is IMPROVING as the season is ending. That team two seasons ago got WORSE. Not only that, if you remember the morale was VISIBLY bad on that team. Then Van refusing the WNIT bid was the straw that broke the camel's back. Nikki will be fine. This team will contend for the SEC title next season...................and keep in mind they're supposed to have Forthan here. If they did, we'd be contending for the SEC THIS season.

I'm not that concerned with Tony Perotti's status. He's an assistant coach who's probably the third ranking coach on the staff anyway. The fact that they were still able to recruit Moncrief and Jefferson lets me know, that all's fine on the recruiting front.
