My kid's school offered sex ed for them, I read it and saw that it was abstinence only shite taught by... catholics.
They wanted my kid in it. When she was EIGHT! It wasn't abstinence only. It was called "health" and they sent me an "opt out" form. NOT a "permission" form mind you. An "opt out".
So, I called. Asked for the curriculum. "Health" covered multiple sexual subjects. I spoke to the principal. Asked about the "opt out" approach and said my child wouldn't be included. She tells me how the curriculum is very strict. I said, fine. Answer this. If my child goes up to the teacher after the class with specific questions off curriculum, can you GUARANTEE me that the ONLY answer the teacher will give is, "you should talk to your parents about that". She admitted she could not guarantee that. I said good. That is why my child will not participate.
The problem is, you CANNOT control the people teaching. No matter their viewpoint, good chance they think it's better than parent's who have opposing view points. AND, they WILL use the opportunity to overcome parental views.
I'd rather they stick to math.
