Where can bitcoins be used? You can find a very long list here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Trade Some prominent sites/services: Reddit WordPress BitcoinWireless BitMit (eBay for bitcoins) How can you obtain bitcoins? BitInstant - fast bitcoins with cash, transactions can be done at Wal-Marts and CVS stores, among others. HIGH FEES Coinbase - ACH transfer from your bank account, takes about 4 days to get your bitcoins, but price is locked in when you make the purchase. VERY LOW FEES (only 1%) LocalBitcoins - find people in your local area to meet up with in person to purchase bitcoins. I don't know what kind of fees, if any, are associated with that.

Sorry.. I knew you were still working on this.. Bitmit is the one I was thinking of.. You also once mentioned a site that links you up with people to buy btc in person. I'm hoping that link is coming too..

I'm hedging my bets on the bitcoin bubble bursting again. I'll get in when it does. (Hopefully is goes back to $3/bc).

That would be pretty bad for a "currency," IMO. People expect some form of stability with a medium of exchange. I hope it just reduces it's inflated cost vs the dollar. I want to see someone like Ebay or Amazon jump on it for trade to force the govt to make a decision. That will give me comfort in using it.

BitCoin is bound for ups and downs given its growing audience. Its price is being demand driven to the extreme right now. At one point BitCoin went from $32 to $3 per. I don't want to risk getting into it at this point when it's very possible that it shrinks again. That doesn't take away its utility as a currency, only sets it back. But, it will become more and more stable. As with the US dollar now, the only stability we have is that it is stably decreasing in value and has been for 100 years.

I have not read much of the material but let me put on my tinfoil hat and ask a question. What happens in the event of the electric grid going down for an extended period of time, how would you access the bitcoin? ETA: Can you hoard a "physical" bitcoin?

Bingo! Nominal value of totals in circulation make it extraordinarily subject to hostile action.

Not yet. But can you clarify what you mean by hostile position?
