I don't think that is true at all. If you're looking for instant conversion it won't happen regardless of how solidly constructed your argument is. Even if people think that Anarcho-Capitalism isn't palatable in the real world, if you introduce the NAP to them they can break down that barrier themselves over time (Which is what happened with me).

For a foundation, I'm currently partial to Hoppe's argumentation ethics. Though I will admit, the moral arguments feel good.

As do you, if past threads are any indication. Hayek's support for government programs does not undermine his other contributions. Road to Serfdom was rather popular but not as important as his other works, mostly Monetary Theory and the Trade Cycle and Prices and Production.

I agree. Hayek is my least favorite Austrian (I hardly consider him an Austrian though, he wasn't a Praxeologist) but his work in business cycle theory is about as important as it gets.

No, he did not. Have you read RTS?? I did. And my copy is right here in my office. Can you tell me the page number where Hayek supported social programs?

Yes he did Zach. I don't remember what pages he said it on, but I was shocked myself when I read it.

I appreciate all the suggestions... Can we come to an agreement of which one or two would be best to read first?

That's going to come down to your attention span. You need to decide whether you want something that will cover points A through Z, or something that jumps around a bit more but is 600 pages shorter.
