External extractor and I'm not a fan, but sig makes a fine weapon. And of course it fit your hand; it's a 1911.

Holster wear not much on stainless gun. But it would take a few hours with flitz to make it really hummm. Most gun taken in at pawn shops are often not really show pieces but rather tools . Ya have to look at potential behind the lack luster appearance to gain a lil sweat equity. I would say this one would result in a 95% + . I would bet it could be had for 900-1k. Lipseys retail is 1200 ?? But not seen very often and not sure if colt is doin many 1911 today.

Sea pickle, It's hard to say best 1911. 70 series need work, barrel bushing are tight and hammer spring need to be lightened and trigger job is in order. Point is unless ya buy a Ed brown, Wilson or other high end unit they need tweaking to be true range machines. I like the 80 series gold cup colt, while a trigger job makes it sweeter, and also like the SA champion loaded model in commander size. Can hook ya up with great 1911 smith when ur ready.

These are both completely not true. Granted a Wilson, Ed Brown, Les Baer, or Nighthawk will have a better feel, it doesn't mean another high-to-mid range 1911s can't become work horses. And my Smith came from the factory with a crisp 4.5lb trigger. Most American 1911s come from the factory with a good trigger already. Maybe not super duper light but pretty good still.

Wrong. Super light trigger =\= a "range machine" or great 1911.

It is interesting how quickly the OP dropped the idea of owning a Colt. Most replies seemed to jump off to other brands also. Just an observation. Anyway, Colt is offering a very nice line-up of 1911 pistols right now... Rail Gun XSE series Combat Elite Series 70 etc. My personal object of lust from Hartford at the moment: The Special Combat Government: Would marry.

Everyone loves Colts. It's just with his price range and the availability of guns right now that Colt may not be as easy to find.

I went back to that pawn shop today. They had a mark IV series 70 Givernmebt model with houge grips, warfighter trigger, a non factory barrel with no box, no factory grips and one Wilson mag. They wanted 1200. I asked if they'd take 1000 and they declined.
