Anybody been to this joint? Seems like a cool place to take some kids for a nerd fest.

I believe that they host several star gazing nights, at the park nearby, a month. Bring a blanket, some snacks, and a telescope. It's quite fun, actually.

It's a great place to take kids when they do their different youth programs. I went with some friends when we were all 9 or 10.

Good, unique place to take a date... especially when it's closed...

You mean those guys in charge of Muslim outreach? Last time I checked, America doesn't have a manned space program anymore.

When was the last time you checked? They may have one again by now.

Good summer camp even if your kid isn't into all the nerdy stargazing stuff

Well, we have no shuttle program, no planned manned missions to anywhere, and all Americans that travel to the ISS have to piggyback with the Russians.

I took the kids once. A bunch of guys had telescopes set up outside they would let you look through. One guy had a set of binoculars you could see the moons around Jupiter with. It was a good group of people so you're kids should enjoy it.

I take my kids there all the time. On Saturday mornings they have a science academy for kids 8-12 years old where they learn about astronomy stuff and have activities for them.

Showing my nerd side here, but I used to go out there on Friday evenings when grad students would work the telescopes. We'd go out there and look at some cool shite and then head out to the bars. If you do go, please remember to turn your headlights off when you get to the parking lot.

They put on a presentation when we first got there, then let everyone look through the big telescope before going outside.

Went for the Venus passing a few months ago after work, by myself, and I'm a grown man. It was a poor decision. Don't go unless you've got kids with you or every soccer mom is going to stare you down as she's waiting for you to try and lure her kid into a van.
