| Opinion on Jon Stewart (Posted on 2/15/13 at 1:57 pm)
If this belongs on a different board please move, FTR I will admit that I am a conservative but not a dumbass conservative who thinks Obama was born overseas. I use to really enjoy Jon Stewart as he is really funny and even though I disagreed with many of his views I didn't mind him bc I could tell he was stating what he truly thought (not just hyping for the party he preferred) and actually would debate people from the right without running all over them (think Bill O'reily). Fast forward to now and I think he has really become more of a smug liberal. He is starting to more and more use bs arguments with his guest that don't actually compute and also doesn't allow his guest to speak as much. It's to the point that I can barely stand watching his interview segments on some nights. All of this to ask, what is your opinion of Jon Stewart? And do you agree he is not the good host he use to be?

I always thought his opening bits were pretty funny, but I could NEVER stand to watch the interviews. Same goes for Colbert.

Like their hero, they are good at delivering speeches prepared for them by more talented writers. And like their hero, even when dealing with an admiring and cooperative interview partner, their biases and failures become much more evident.

Unfunny hack... I rarely laugh at anything he does and its a fricking shame that he has an audience that actual takes his show as a legitimate source of their news

I'm the same way. Used to really enjoy it. I think it's several factors for me. He went from rightly pounding Republican policies (2004-2009), to letting the Democrats slide for being equally terrible (2009 to now). I've changed from a democrat voter to libertarian voter (as I've grown interested in politics since college). And he's just not funny anymore. He's moved from satirist to lecturer. And he's lost all of his decent talent and replaced it with terrible talent (early skits).

Buncha humorless politards in here. He makes fun of Fox News slightly more than MSNBC only because Fox News is a parody in and of itself so it is easy to make fun of. Colbert is hilarious 90% of the time. It's satirical comedy folks. Lighten up.

He's not quite as funny as he was a few years ago, but he's still a great comedy talk show host. His bits still crack me up on the regular, but his interviews are really suffering now. I remember several great interviews in the past with conservatives where he was respectful, funny, and had a great back and forth. He doesn't seem to give as much respect to his conservative guests any more. He just wants to throw "gotcha!" bombs and belittle them. He used to be better, but he's still the best in his time slot. I think he's gotten a little too smug for his own good.

Ehh..Not that funny. And what aggravates me about people like Stewart is that when anyone tries to call him out on something he said, he hides behind the whole "But I'm just a comedian, don't take me seriously" shite.
