How about the fact that the man said he doesn't known enough about the operation and programs of the DoD and that he will learn on the job.
Hagel is unqualified for the position and if you think the only reason Republicans are blocking him is because he was nominated by Obama then why have all of his other cabinet appointees, including a fricking tax cheat for the head of Treasury, confirmed?

Didn't hear it or read about it. Not offended by it. My comment was solely directed at the "sides" specifically in this thread.
There is one main issue on which you and CT agree, and even when the thread is not directly about it, when you two are in agreement, I am sure the basis is Israel. Nothing personal, just pointing out the predictability and the pointlessness of bashing Cruz for anything other than the reason why you really dislike him.

Though I generally agree with CT's foreign policy, we have very little in common when it comes to domestic policty, but I'm sure that I have areas agreement with virtually everyone on this board. What's the big deal?

At least I give you credit for recognizing Cruz' hackery for what it is, as opposed to GRTiger who is evidently as big a fan of this type of McCarthyism as you are but won't admit it.

It's laughable that Cruz would accuse Chuck Hagel and John Kerry, who between them have five purple hearts, a bronze star and a silver star, of being "less than ardent fans of the U.S. military". Here's a good take on Cruz from The Hill:

He violated the proud tradition of a great bipartisan committee and did no service to the countless veterans and war heroes of Texas and the nation who know that Hagel is a great friend and member of the band of brothers and sisters who serve Texas and America with valor.

Of course it's possible. One man's extremist is another man's moderate, but Cruz implied that Hagel took money from enemies of the U.S. and that's something altogether different.
