That's not quite comparing apples to oranges but I see your point. Where I work there are 5 different plans. I was single up until 3 years ago, and got the cheapest, most affordable plan for my family and 2 kids ($280 a month...que the car comparison again) Deductibles went up for ER visits ($150) outpatient visits (same) and inpatient stays of 24 hours plus ($300). We have never had a deductible for prescription drugs. Most are a $10 copay

About 4 years ago it was $1000. Apparently big companies that offer insurance benefits are trending towards these high-deductible lower(allegedly) premium policies and also only cover prescriptions that they deem to be preventative. My daughter was taking a medication that cost previously $44 a month that is now $182 with the new plan.......

This makes no sense whatsoever. A family copay? And $2500 bucks? I call BS
aren't familiar with insurance are you? A deductible is different from a copay. He said a $2500 family deductible. Mine is $5600. $2800 individual, $5600 family. It means each person in the family has a $2800 deductible until the aggregate reaches $5600. It's very common. ETA: Beat me to it. ETA: It is painfully obvious you think your employer sponsored plan is the same as everyone else's in America. I have a Blue Cross Individual Family Plan. $650/month, $5600 family deducitble. That equals $1,117/ month. That is about $500 less than my mortgage!! 2 years ago I pad about $750 a month with a $1000 deductible. Thats $833 a month. I guess I should be excited my premiums went down, right? Is that the leftist mantra?

So what is your point? Did your premiums go down? If not, then what's the big deal about a $10 savings in co-pay?

I'm with BCBS as well. Have you been notified of growing numbers of doctor's group leaving their relationship with Blue Cross? Just this week, I received notification of both of my closest hospital ER doctor groups leaving. Not happy. ETA: Clarification

I had not seen any of that. But that is not good. It also doesn't surprise me.

I'm a physician and I haven't seen ANYBODY'S co-pays go down. In fact, just the opposite. Co-pays up, deductables up, monthly premiums up, benefits down, medication coverage down. I call bull shite unless your insurance changed.

I have a really good insurance plan. My medical expenses are capped at $6000 a year of which I cover $4500 and the company $1500. I pay whatever the negotiated price for all services and prescriptions up to the cap. Afterwards it's covered 100%. If I don't use $6000 worth of services then the balance carries over to the next year. In addition, I have been funding the plan an extra $1250/year long enough that I always have a minimum of $5000 positive balance. I go to a doctor, hospital, or drug store and just swipe the credit card. No muss, no fuss, no worries.

I assume the "us" is just you and your family. I would guess your situation is not the norm. My Mom's copay went up to 85 bucks on some of her routine medicines; Santyl is one of them. She's diabetic and often needs Santyl ointment to help in the healing of wounds.
