| Poll: Jindal Among Nation's Most Unpopular Governors (Posted on 2/15/13 at 2:06 am)

quote:
Once considered a rising star in the Republican Party, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is suddenly experiencing a reversal of fortune and now finds himself among the nation’s most unpopular state leaders, according to a new state poll. Public Policy Polling reported Thursday that Jindal’s job approval rating has sunk from 58 percent in 2010 to 37 percent today. The rating is based on a survey of 603 Louisiana voters conducted Feb. 8-12. Jindal’s ranking among Republicans also has fallen dramatically. His approval rating among GOP voters has sunk from 81 percent in August 2010 to 59 percent today. His negative rating among Republicans has grown from 13 percent to 35 percent. Likewise, with independents, his positive rating has fallen from 57 percent in August 2010 to 41 percent today. Jindal's fall in the polls could spell trouble for GOP hopes of knocking off Democratic incumbent Sen. Mary Landrieu in the 2014 election. In a hypothetical matchup against Landrieu, Jindal trails 49 percent to 41 percent. Landrieu is also polling ahead of all seven potential Republican opponents by a margin ranging from 3 percent to 12 percent.

Jindal speaks of not liking the Fed and Washington DC. Does anyone worker harder than Jindal at getting there?

I don't see Jindal winning another statewide election ever in Louisiana again. I doubt we ever see a Senator Jindal.

I'd vote for Jindal over Landrieu. I've also complained about Jindal - he hasn't cut enough in my opinion. Besides that, Louisiana has fared relatively well during the recession. I also applaud his efforts to improve education. He is still light years better than the parade of crooks and incompetence that have marched through the Louisiana Governor's mansion over the years.

Just proves that the only thing holding Louisiana back are its people.

He is better than many previous governors in this state. All the bitching about the cuts he has made comes from the selfish idiots that want the unnecessary state benefits off the backs of taxpayers.

Jindal is the ultimate politician. He moved to Jefferson Parish to win his first election. He of course became a Christian somewhere along the line. He is a hunter and fisherman-----RIGHT. He is in the NRA. The fact is that Jindal is for Jindal. He treats people like dirt in order to advance his political ambitions. His much ballyhooed education reforms are a joke. Jindal needs to go away and disappear.

Anytime someone has the guts and nerve to make the tough decisions such as cuts, and other policies that make economic common sense, there will be backlash. It is our nature to eat our own. The Dems have no guts whatsoever. That's why they are popular with the people and stay in some relative power. The GOP talk a good talk, but they too are gutless, save for a handful in their ranks. That's why I personally think Marco Rubio is being processed. The real leaders that could make a difference is Jindal, Christie, maybe Mark Levin if he ran for office? An excellent example of a high profile politician trying to do the right thing was GHW Bush

Jindal is unpopular because he made so many cuts to balance our state budget. He trimmed a lot of fat and put together some educational reforms that attempted to help make learning in the state more universal with more simplistic guidelines. Louisiana has fared remarkably well during the recession, and his response to emergencies has been excellent, overrall a fine governor.

WTF? Jindal is def one of the best governors we have had in the last 50 years. Louisiana was barely phased by the recession and businesses actually want to move here now. Sounds like they picked and chose 603 people to survey. Yea college kids dont like him because many do not have a fricking clue what the LA Constitution has in it about what can be cut and what cant and dont realize that its in there that he has to balance a budget he cant print money.

I agree with that statement. However, that's kind of like winning a race against a bunch of one-legged competitors.

Except now he's looking at possibly raising the debt limit in Louisiana (isn't that wrong to do in D.C.?) because the Construction Budget is about to be maxed out. Why? One of the big reasons being all the local and NGO projects (if this isn't fat, then what the hell is?) the Administration promised in order to get legislators on its side on several issues. Jindal's not the first Louisiana Governor to do this, but the practice, which really took popularity during the EWE reign, has definitely grown during Jindal's 5 years. ETA: Oh, by the way, though, if it's a run-off between Landrieu and Jindal, the Governor is getting my vote, despite my disagreements with several things he and his Administration has done.
