there is just no way that will end up being true...these things are moving at thousands of miles an hour when they enter the top of the atmosphere...

This is probably a dumb question but would this have anything to do with the asteroid that's passing earth today?

A Scud missile travels at mach 5 (around 3800 MPH) and we were able to shoot them down within minutes of being launched.

Yes it was believed to be associated with that. Looks like the meteor field was maybe closer than they calculated or more likely didn't want to panic ppl by a possible strike

yes, but they knew roughly where those would be coming from and had things in place to shoot them down...it's pretty much impossible to know what trajectory a meteor is going to be raining down at... edited to add meteors enter the top of the atmosphere at roughly...30,000mph (obviously they slow down quickly upon entry though) This isn't Hollywood...you can't shoot down a meteor within seconds of it entering the atmosphere.

Hundreds of injuries reported. This may have been the biggest impact since the 1908 Tunguska explosion. LINK Link works now.

And they are erratic because of the turbulence so hitting one would be damn near impossible. Pure Russian bull shite.
