where to stay in Kansas City?

anyone know some of the best hotels to stay in KC? I'll be going in a couple of months so any tips of where to stay and what to do while there would be appreciated.

Why is Kansas City in Missouri and not Kansas?

Power and Light District.

KC Power & Light District
With more than 50 unique and captivating restaurants, bars, shops and entertainment venues, the Kansas City Power & Light District offers something for everyone. Walk through the eight blocks of the Power & Light District, and you will discover a variety of local boutiques with the latest fashions and trends and an array of cuisines at the many restaurants and cafes. For those looking for a fun night on the town, check out KC Live, an entertainment plaza with two levels of high-energy bars, restaurants and nightclubs plus live music and more.

I would stay at Hotel Phillips downtown in the heart of the Power & Light District.

They really really need an NBA/or NHL team, as you can see the district ends/begins at the Sprint Center.

The pregame and postgame parties would be epic since The Power & Light District is one of only a few places in the United States where possession and consumption of open containers of alcoholic beverages are allowed on the street.
